Are you freaking kidding me??? This is the stupidest thing Ive ever seen in my life! I saw the commercial for this on TV last night and about fell out of my chair.

It would be half **** lame if it was somebody's idea of a jokeattempt or something but from what Ive read online, this thing is for real! Whats more surprising is that there are some people in a board room that actually came up with this idea with a straight face!

Actually, this is pretty old. The Chia-Obama came out about the time he was inaguated as President. Folks were screaming that it was a racist thing to do. ****. Yea, he is of negro origin and, as a result, has "kinky" hair. Perfect for the Chia folk!

If you put yourself "out there", then expect satire. Nobody was screaming "race" when George W Bush was being satired as having big ears....

Is having big ears a race thing? Maybe if you're from the south.......

I never understood what the point of the Chia's were.....is the 'hair' edible?

Yeah, the Chia thing as a whole certainly doesn't scream racist.

Using the term "negro origin", however......

It's just a plant, essentially. Not edible, just decorative.

The packaging for the Chia pet says they are edible(The herbs, not the pottery). It also says you can grow other small herbs on it. My youngest boy got one for Christmas. Love it when he talks about it because he does not call it a chia, it's a "cha-cha-chia"

    Later,

Whoops. My complete knowledge of Chia comes from the old commercials, where they never mentioned eating them, so I just assumed. That's what I get for assuming ....

I know what you are saying. What is proper to term a person of brown skin whose ultimate origin is from Africa? African American (****, persons of color who has lived in the USA all of their lives are Americans to me ... what's the African deal in that term???/)? Black? (maybe, I am white and do not mind being called "white," but folk of african descent are sensitive to being called "black"). Persons of color? (Too non specific. Folk of Mexican or Carribian origin often has significant color to their flesh.).

How about asian? Nope, taken. Plus many asian have signicant color to their skin pigment. I am largely of caucasion origin and have never felt a racist thing was being said about me when such a term as "causcuasion or white" being used to describe myself by others. Call me of european origin if you care too. I will not be offended. "Whitey," well, that crosses the line.

    What do you propose?????????????

I think the most important thing is whether you are intentionally being derogatory when you describe someone rather than the term used. I am half american Indian but some people prefer the term Native American as being more PC others term all Indians as Aborigines, personally I dont care what term someone uses as long as its not being used as a slur, for instance I would take offense if I was called blanket **** or something similar, or if I was asked if I lived in a Teepee or a Wigwam. I dont go to work with feathers in my hair either even though I have no problem going to a Pow Wow dressed in traditional garb like in the pic below.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D
