Where you haven't upgraded anything in your system for a year and you think it sounds as good as it could be?

I still have the same receiver, CDP, and speakers as when I joined Club Polk. It seems like this is a point where it stops and you are truly satisfied with everything.

Just wondering...

Sure, there were a few times I was really happy given the setting I was in (room restrictions kept me from upgrading) that or being deployed! No but really I'm pretty happy with my setup as well for HT that is....as for 2 channel, that's just getting started!

I have a strong desire to change and what I think most of the time are upgrades only to regret the equipment that I sold I wished I kept.... especially the old vintage tube gear when my hair was not as grey.

Now it is a matter of the amount of Mad Money hidden away and when that deal shows up and hopefully you get there soon enough to grab it.

Extremely happy with the HT rig.

Long ways off with the two-channel, though :(
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

    Agreed, Same here.

Even though my 2 channel is sounding fantastic, I have a clear vision of where I would like to be in the next couple years.

I actually use the VCR everyday. It is connected to the projector and 2ch rig for playback of concerts and music videos.

Was expensive back in the day - I remember it was $600 for the JVC HR-S9911U - a HiFi Stereo, SVHS unit with digital tracking.

I can't stand to watch a vcr movie on a big screen but concerts seem fine. And I agree, the audio is very good.

Thanks. I just changed sources in the two channel rig. Now I just some tweaking here and there until I have another brainstorm.

Yeah, I don't know why but concerts look OK in VHS on a big screen.

Movies - I'd rather watch them on DVD.

A year? I upgraded constantly from 1978 or so, until 1991. Then I went from 1992 to 2005 without upgrading a thing. I was more than happy with the sound, and of course other interests came along as well.

Then in 2005 a tweeter failed in the SDA's. Upgraded the tweeters and crossovers, and that seemed to set things back in motion. Started adding speakers to more areas of the house and the garage. Decided to try HT at that time as well. It took me about three years of upgrading to finally be completely happy with the system. And I still have the SDA'a and the amp I bought to power them in 1989.

I think I'm probably done for a while now, but you never know.

Audio, I'm set. Upgrading at this point would be a multi thousand dollar expedition. Video however, I've been following 1080p projectors for awhile. I can see pulling the trigger this Christmas.

I am constantly in a push pull with my set up. I keep toying with the idea of building a dedicated 2 channel set up for music, but it's really not a priority, and as a result I never end up starting it.

Being a total HT/Gaming fanatic, I am more than satisfied with my current setup. My goals at this point are getting a separate multi-channel amp and another set of surrounds for 7.1 total surround sound.

I still love reading people's questions and about their rigs here, but...

For the time being, I am happy. :D

That is the single most important thing I have learned is keep what you have until something better comes along, just because you think it is an upgrade because you have read lots of reviews and or people rave about it and it costs a lot more does not always mean it will sound better to your ears in your house with the rest of your gear. Dont sell a piece to get another piece sell the piece that doesnt sound as good after you have established which one that truly is. Secondly switch out one component at a time otherwise you may not remember which one had the biggest effect positive or negative. I have bought some to me at least very expensive gear only to discover it didndt sound as good as the far less costly gear I sold to get the new gear. Sometimes things have a synergy that work together thats hard to beat by throwing money at it.

    REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D
