Just wanted to see which one was the better all around speaker.
Both are very similar in weight, size and both sport a 12" PR.
Your thoughts please.

Thanks

I never have heard either but would assume the 3.1's just because of the "TL" factor.

the comparisons I have heard from others is that they are about the same sonically and the difference between one and the other would be up to individual preference as to which is best.

I have played around with the 3.1's and currently own 1C's. The above two posts about sum it up. They are extremely close and IF there was a slight edge it would be in the upper frequencies because of the TL's versus the SL2000. It would probably be an even tougher call with 194's. If a pair of 3.1's jumped up locally at a good price I would probably grab them and spend more than a few hours listening before deciding. My guess is that iIF my memory serves me (it was several years ago), I would probably lean toward the 3.1's.

Sorry, not much help although I doubt you could make a mistake choosing either.

1C's are so nicely balanced and laid back even if they have the stock sl2000's. I think it would be a tough choice if both were in front of you. I'd choose the 1C's, but I'm spoiled because of the RD0's and Sonicap/Mills upgrade made to mine. My 1C's continue to floor me and the better the electronics you throw at them, the better and better they sound.

Either one would be a great choice.......meaning don't hold out for one over the other if you're presented with a current opportunity to buy either one; especially if it's a local deal where you can transport them yourself rather than UPS or FedEx, etc.

I agree with H9's thoughts in regards to X-over and tweeter upgrades. Ricardo did both to my 3.1's and they really do sound better with every little upgrade. I just swapped in a new power cord on my DVD player and and it sounds much smoother now. And even more detail.
Point being, both speakers are excellent designs. I consider the 3.1 a bit better with it's single tweet and line source array. A design Polk continued on the SRT. And, I think the SRS looks nicer with the side wood trim.
