They are also running out of stock on this line. I received a email from Jennifer at Polk Direct saying they will be putting up some RTIA series speakers. So this fine center may not be available for long in their store.

Id go with the cs400 if youve got an ear like I do, but if you can hear them both somewhere/somehow Id say go with what you like best, after all whats important is if youre happy with your system.

I'd have to look at the RM8 itself online or something before I start recommending stands, I just mounted mine on the wall. As far as the cs245i, that seems reasonable especially if its in great condition. Ive seen some 400's go from 160-220, and the 245's on ebay for like 80-120.

Hey don, so I looked at Polk site itself just to see if I can get an image of the satellites and get a good idea of what to recommend. I see all they did was remove the "feet" which looks to be held by a single screw, and mounted a..what they say is a "supplied" bracket to the bottom of the speaker. I had a pair of stands that mount to keyhole mount-type speakers and if I wanted to use those stands for your speakers, Id just have to turn the mounting bracket itself like 90 degrees or so to mount them with. Id let you have them if they were in my posession but I gave them to a neighbor while back. Hope this just gives you an idea to think outside the box with a normal pair of stands

Quick question, why not wall mount them? You can reach desirable height and not worry about them getting knocked over for any reason and the wall mount brackets are included. Is it the wire itself youre worried about thats exposed?

Well if youve got carpet flooring that helps with hiding speaker wire, run it along under the baseboards where carpet meets board. Also if you were to run it under an area rug or the sort (like I do) just purchase some "flat" speaker wire so it doesnt stick up. I went ahead and went with wall mounting mainly because i have a husky (whom LOVES TO RUN around everywhere) with my pit. One day one ofem ran behind the couch and dropped a speaker, yes I was dam pissed, and as far as putting a hole in ur wall, spackle takes care of that easily and quickly when its time to move out. I know how you feel, I live in an apartment too. Btw where are you located?

Some b-tech mounts a friend gave me, he gets random **** from BB (hes part of the geek squad) so hes hooked me up from time to time. I just nailed these wire holders along the top edge of my baseboard to keep the wire taut against the wall.

I just fitted my stepfather's 5.1 and put rhe speaker under the base boards because he had wood floors. Try that for a more professional feel to it

You know, if I were you and you really wanted to get a pair of stands, find yourself some type of metal L shaped bracket. Mount the bottom of the "L" underneath the speaker where the wall mount would normally go, then the back side of the "L" to a normal key-hole mount type speaker stand (vertical piece is up behind the speaker if you know what I mean)
