Rented this today, on Blu, this is now on my must buy list, very cool action popcorn film. Decently acted, good story, great effects, nothing at all like the trailers. Some good edge of your seat thrills and suspense as well.
If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent.

Great, gives me a reason to get it then. My wife mentioned the whole "whats up with nicholas cage in all these films regarding future events/etc", another example being Next if anyones seen it. Dont spoil it for me though since neither of us has yet to watch it!

Cool, I was hoping it wasn't a dud. I just rented it today, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Unfortunately my local video store was all out of Blu-Ray copies so I had to get it in "Regular D" lol.

Fantastic flick. Suspenseful, dramatic, intelligent, good f/x, good flow, great storyline. I was glued to the edge of my seat. Busy night so I thought I'll watch half of it tonight and catch the rest tomorrow. Couldn't turn the sucker off.

That was a very cool jet crash, the after crash explosions with debris flying really made for some very good surround use.

I saw this the other night... It was very intense and kept me glued to the screen but I will probably never watch it again. I thought the acting was terrible besides cage.

Not totally into the concept either but I was very suprised at how dark and semi scary it was.

Worth a one time viewing in my book, with some great special effects and audio.

    Enjoy.

Nicolas Cage can ruin a movie for me, but not this one. This one was ruined because it just wasn't that good. Sure it had great sound and decent effects, but dragging around the kids, then leaving them in the car or on their own just to amp the tension...it happened several times. Visiting the disasters with no idea what would/could happen with the thought of stopping them somehow...what was Cage thinking??? It was an obvious plot device, among many that were heavy handed. The movie was ambitious, but...

I wrote a spoiler here, but for some reason the spoiler tages wouldn't take...so I removed it. You guys can get the gist. I wasn't that impressed

...kept taking me out of the moment with nearly every scene. Maybe, it was Cage. Someone like Eric Bana might have pulled it off, IDK. Overall, a disappointment for me...and I like things blowed up.

+1. The GF and I were disappointed. Sound and special effects were good, but the story could have been so much better. It had potential, but was like the firecracker that never went off.

I got around to this one last night (rental). Not great...but...it kept me interested for the entire time. The LFE was wicked on a couple of scenes already mentioned. The ending was goofy IMO...but it is a familiar plot...and ending...since it has been done before. It's a decent movie that is definitely worth a rental.

I agree on Nicolas Cage...I used to like him in his older movies, but at some point he seemed to just take an acting role in every POS movie out there. I used to enjoy watching him in movies, but IMO he is now at "cheeseball" status in his acting career....

I was waiting to see ET there at the end of the movie! Nothing too creative about the storyline, however I agree that it kept me entertained all the way through. The DTS-HD soundtrack was really good, I'll have to ask the neighbors if they agree! Not on my BD buy list, but definetely a rental recommendation.
