What do you use it for? a9's would (if properly amplified) blow your face off in home theater, and the lsi15's would do better for a more musical person.

+1, but the Rti-A9s are the more musical of that series in any case. Not as laid back as LSIs but pretty good!

For what application and what will you be powering them with?

I am going to be using Yamaha RX-V363 receiver to power them and it has a estimated 100wpc. I am mostly going to be using HT and music. I have already listened to the RTiA9's and they sound very good, the LSi15's I can't find anywhere.
Thanks for the help everybody too.

Unless you plan on buying an external amp, go with the RTiA's.

I don't think the 363 has pre outs so unless you plan on buying an external amp and a new receiver or processor stick to the RTiA's

In this case - I would recommend an amp for either speaker. With the LSi's though, it should really be multi-channel (for all speakers).

I would listen to both speakers and get the one you like the sound of better. I really like my LSi's but have had to choose components carefully to not let the movie experience be to "laid back" for my tastes. I would assume (but do not know) that the same would be true of the RTiA speakers but the same care would be given to keep them from being to brite when listening to music.

It all depends on which side you lean twords liking - laid back or a little on the brite side.

It sounds like you like to listen to music LOUD. Everything you mentioned is for big sound ;)

Both will be underpowered with what you have. IMO, the A9's will sound bright because the lack of power and the LSi's will burn up your receiver.

With your current receiver, you have no choice but to go with the A9's between the two.

Even going with the A9's, you are going to want more power. Getting at least 200W to each of those is going to really get those babies to sing. Many will argue that it makes little difference, but I can tell you I noticed a huge improvement

A9s powered with Pioneer SC-05 if you can take your AVR back and exchange it. If not A9s powered by two Outlaw Audio M2200 Monoblocks.

You haven't said what kind of music you intend to listen to. A9s are said to be better for loud, bassy, electronic stuff. LSi15s better for jazz, vocal, classical. But LSis will definitely require external amp and your chosen receiver doesn't have preouts.

You say you intend HT duty as well leading one to suspect you will wish to add more speakers in the future. With 5 speaks connected the output from the receiver will plummet to---I'm guessing---40 wpc or so. I base this guess on much listening to my RX V663 with its very feeble amp section. At that point you won't really have enough juice for A9s.

So if you're thinking RTiA9s and home theater, you ought to be looking at (1) a receiver with preouts and an external amp, or (2) a receiver with a better amp section.

    For LSi15s, option (1).

At 90wpc my LSI-15's were dull and lifeless, when I added an external amp with 350wpc @4ohms these babies came alive.

Don't get the LSI's if your not planing to power them properly, I'm even betting the A-9's will sound spectacular with the proper power.

The LSI's do a very good job for HT especially with a subwoofer, for music they are an excellent choice.

To get back to a post above. I'm pretty sure the Yamaha 363 has NO pre-outs. No entry level Yamaha does. I believe you have to get up to the 500 dollar level, or at least the 663 to have those. I'm not even sure the new 665 has them because the higher 7xx series seems to BE the REAL new 663?

    +1 on everything else above!

    Thanks Jimmy....

I knew the 663 did but I had assumed since..Yamaha has downscaled the audio-section of the 665 and you'd really need to buy the 765 to match the real sound and power of the 663 today....that they probably dumped pre-outs as well. I stand corrected...the 665 still has pre-outs but I'd still buy the 765 if you want a new 663.

None of these receivers have preouts to add separate amplification, so don't bother getting the LSI's. They will barely be adequate on the RTIa's.

Take your time & save more money to do it right the first time.
