Do you need to keep them passive? If you're ok with powered, I would suggest the Audioengine A2 for small bookshelves. If you go to their website, you can use the coupon MW09 for 25% off.

Not bad at all! I wish you were in Canada, our office uses some MS-16 which are no longer available and the owner wasn't willing to pay for more expensive monitors. The MS-16 are great for what we need them for but the MS-40 would even be better!

If he needs passive, great option with 100 watts and the response isn't bad for a 2 way!

Realizing full well this is the Polk forum, and Polk has built some nice to very nice small loudspeakers over the years, I will offer (with some trepidation) another couple of suggestions.

The CSW (Cambridge Soundworks) Model Six is still available new, sounds more than decent and is inexpensive. It can also be improved considerably with a crossover redo. It may be too big for the OP, though.

The CSW Model Seventeen would be ideal and is also a pretty decent little speaker, but appears to be no longer in production. I have a pair that I bought for $5 at a charity fleamarket a few years back that serve very well as test speakers in the basement.

Hey guys thanks for all the responses. Looking for passive not powered. It's been a crazy difficult week, but I will let a few of you know which way I am headed in the next few days.

    Thanks again
