I was looking at this UPS today:

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=139-100&ctab=13#Tabs

Was thinking about buying it since it is a STEAL w/ free shipping until I saw the same unit on Newegg and one of the reviews said:

"This UPS blew up unexpectedly with a bang and shower of sparks. Since then I have been afraid to touch it. This is a low-quality product"

What do you guys think?

Never heard of the brand. Good price for sure, but when it comes to power protection, I'm a bit nervous to not go with a brand known for its quality.

The guy said it blew up unexpectedly. Like you expect it to blow up?

Not saying I expect it to blow up. I'd be more concerned about the quality of power conditioning and battery runtime. I don't know the brand so I can't comment and would want to find out more before buying. I am quite familiar with APC and know their products can be trusted.

I have an APC Smart-UPS 1500, Back-UPS 350, and APC BX1500 here. Was looking to replace one of the units with the Power Sentry from Parts Express, but now I'm worried it will blow up.

Can't help you there I'm afraid. If there's only one review of a blowup then it's likely the unit hasn't been recalled, and truth be known, the guy or the power company was probably was at fault.

Still, I wouldn't want to buy it just to have it explode all over the place.

Buy one, plug it into an outside outlet, turn it on and run like the wind! If it doesn't explode after a few days you know it is safe to bring inside. :D

We have a bunch of those Powercom's at work. Very long run time, and no failures yet.

That said, I wouldn't buy the units at parts express. If you read the description, they've been in storage for three years. Three years without a charge? You will probably need to replace the batteries fairly soon, if not immediatly. The batteries for those are over $80.

The spike protection doesn't look that great either.

The batteries for my Smart-UPS 1500 are also over $80, but at least that's a much better unit :)

I already have the BX1500, which is the same thing as the HT model minus the black color.

I also have an (even bigger) Smart-UPS 1500.

DarqueKnight owns like 4 of them.

DarqueKnight also has side by side LSiC center channels in a cabinet. The combing (cancellations) from putting two centers next to each other is horrific. Also, the frequency response from putting a speaker in a cabinet is way less than optimal.

What is the benefit of using two centers?

There is no benefit, only detriment. I guess you could argue higher SPL with decreased distortion but the cancellations are going to be killer.

    That's a pair of LSi9's, not two LSiC's, if I'm not mistaken.
