Anyone picked this up yet? I love this chick almost as much as Diana Krall. The DVD is only $12.99 at Circuit City. Reviews?

2 things I noticed on this dvd besides the good music:
1. She's sweating like hell from the very beginning.
2. Her G-String underwear makes me insane! -
Norah Jones + sweaty + g-string = me in the car headed to CC. The audio quality is clear and detailed, the band is tight, and Norah doesn't 'improv' from the CD very much (pet peeve of mine). Norah's songs sound very similar to me, but all in all very mellow and enjoyable. Hard to beat for the $$.
Also her voice has so much 'texture' and character it's good demo material for showing the details of the speakers. -
After her landslide at the Grammys I went back and listened to my daughter's copy of her CD. I've got to be honest with you guys...I don't think it is that great...It was OK...but I got bored with it real quick. Now the image of a cute, sweaty singer in a g-string might help...but her CD is not one I want in my collection. I know I'm going against the grain here, but it's just my .02."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Shack,
I am actually with you on this one, I like a couple songs from her album, but she is no Krall....she reminds me of astrud gilberto (sp?) and her album is NOT exactly mainstream jazz. It's more country/smooth jazz combo, not much of improv. going on. Her vocal strength has not been tested, it's sultry, but ain't Schuur quality. I haven't seen the dvd, so I will not underestimate the power of g-string on my ability to listen objectively, though...I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
I see what you mean by improv in a jazz context... I meant more along the lines of changing the tempo and inflections of the vocals. It can be for any kind of music, but it drives me nuts when I expect to hear something near the song on the CD, and the singer's voice trails off uncoherently, or they try to do a 'Mariah Carey' and turn songs in to unnecessary vocal gymnastics.
I also like the Krall DVD better, but this is entertaining. It is hard to categorize her... Norah almost seems like light pop jazz with a little blues thrown in? -

I can't STAND.......no......make that HATE to listen to Mariah Carey. Her whiney, neverending, high pitched style of yodeling that she does is so BEYOND irritating to me that I REFUSE to listen to anything that she does.......HATE HATE HATE HATE her......

Mariah is nice to look at though. Thats what the mute button is for.

I enjoy this dvd also. IS it me or does she look uncomfortable with the large crowds.
