Not usually, I've only come across that once. My Belkin PureAV Hybrid UPS comes with a pretty beefy PC. I tried replacing it with a few aftermarket cables of similar and larger gauge, and with all of them, the noise floor was raised. I tried to purchase another PC from Belkin, but they won't sell it separately.

Interestingly, I would put the VD pc at the bottom and the PS Audio pc at the top in my rig.

I am glad you said that. I am sitting here with 3 PS Audio AC-3s and like them.

I should qualify my comment in that my experiences with both brands were with higher up the ladder models than those in the article.

Great read, thank you! I might have to try out one of the lower priced cables to start with.

I started to read the "Thesis" but soon realized that I would rather
be listening and making the evaluation myself.

Knowing that my personal preferences would undoubtedly affect the evaluation

The author indicates that some power cables work better in differnt components and that synergy is key. And that if you only have one quality PC- put it on the cd player.

I've got 2 after market power cables and one is on my amp and the other on my preamp. Just for kicks I tried his suggestion and moved the pc from my pre to my cdp and noticed a noticeable improvement. I got a more bass that was more defined.

I read that review some time ago. Right after that I bought a case full of the Volex 17604 and I converted most of my gear to those cords.
