hey first time to a forum so if im in the wrong area sorry big noob.Ok so i started really getting into the audio part of home theatre i was always into tv started with onkyo htib to where i am now 7.1 entry level of the high end avr with separate amp really nice speakers and so on you know the deal. Now have nver been a believer in all of this high end speaker wire interconnct mumbo jumbo. So i took a trip to a local audio store not the big name so anyway this guy really want to sell me monster now he has tara labs and other well known names interconnects and such i,ve been wanting to a/b some wires anyway so i bouht some tributaries ofc sp4 14 awg speaker wire and monster mseries mcx-1s speaker cable with time correct and i had purchased some b.j.c. belden 5000ue so i took them home took them hooked them each up to my downstairs set didn't listen to them while i let them each burn in which i dont know if i buy into but thats anoth thread i guesse but any way they got in there burn.I did not expect to hear any difference between the three .First up the tributaries sounded nice every thing just sounded good the bass was pretty good highs seemed nice and pleasant.now the monster omfg what crap , flux core, time correrct big words bullcrap liars this is the worst sound to ever come out of my set up the bass was loose, thats the best way i can explain it. Im new to this dont the correct wordings and what not the highs talk about harsh almost metalic and distorted sound .last but not least the belden wow, like i said i expected them all to sound the same but these cheap and certainly nothing to look at wires (who wants to look @ wires anyway) Sound f ' in awesome smooth all around smooth the bass seemed real tight and the music almost seemed like it was in 3d i have never heard anthing like this now i will say i went into this audio thing kinda blind bought my speakers without listening too them much thank god i like them because they were kinda out side my budget.I just never new my speakers could sound this way and ond only from changing some wires.I know this was kinda long winded but am i the only one who dislikes monster so much does anybody else use these wires and like them and obviousely them being cheap has nothing to do with it because the belden is cheaper.Im really interested in what other people have to say thanks guys

I have only one question - Are you related to Slowpolky or his identical twin?

    Sorry if you are not!

Welcome to the forum. I have used Monster for a long time along with many other brands (Audioquest, etc.) Monster isn't bad, it's just very overpriced.

P.S. Please format your posts for easier reading, you'll get many more responses when your posts do not look like verbal diarrhea.

    Welcome to Club Polk, Todd.

It will take an open mind and lots of time to explore what sounds best to you in your particular listening environment.

After you have 25 posts, the "For Sale" forum offers a great way to buy and sell different cables. That way you can start the journey and get an "ears on" perspective of what you see others writing about, and you'll meet some interesting characters along the way.

Eh, I get Monster at cost and have always been happy with the performance of the wires in all of my systems. I know a lot of installers who have used Belden, Liberty, and Monster and their preference always came down to cost more than anything else.

    Welcome to CP!

I used to sell Monster back in the good ole' days when CCity was commission. They made us go to all these Monster Cable classes and fed us bull$h!t about how Monster was GOD of A/V cable. Monster makes decent stuff but they are overpriced, but I sold the crap out of it because I made 10%.

I knew a person that worked in the Monster Cable factory in the Bay Area. Monster Cable are no better than wires from Home Depot.

Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on rubber wrapped junk, get some real audio cables like Tara Labs or Kimber...Cardas...They are serious about what they make.

I am running a set of Tara Labs RSC Air 2 cables, compare that to a spotless sliding glass door that you just ran into, it's as if everything was crystal clear.

Got an extra set of Tara Labs RSC Air 3 8ft if anyone's interested, email jyli19@hotmail.com
