A - Learn how to use the quote feature
B - I know this has been beaten to death, but there's two 'p's in crappin

I was just curious. You made a big deal with your self pity thread about how you were going to stay away from the forum, was curious if you forgot or if you'd never intended to stay away and that thread was just a cry for pity?

Bad economy, long in tooth. Retailers and wholesalers have DRASTICALLY scaled back inventories and production (or gone belly up) over the past year. Hence, retailers don't need to clear out stock, inventories are low. Price are much higher than a year ago. You might find some stragglers in the NOS for a good deal, but not too many around here.

Sadly, even the used market is heating up (I think it's summer).

Somehow I figured that's what you'd get out of that thread. You didn't learn a damn thing from that whole experience, did you? It's not your opinion that gets people against you, it's the way you state it and all the trash talk that comes along with it, and your intolerance of other people's opinions.

I could provide examples of each, but what good would it do, really?

I wish all of you would stop bickering and start to get along. It is getting that I don't want to come to this site any more.

Now for what this thread is about:

I saw Carver TFM 42 on eBay go last week for $275. Only one person bid on it and that was the opening bid. That amp is 375wpc into 8ohm and 500wpc into 4ohm. The only difference between it and a TFM 45 is that it has led power meters and the 45 has analog. Wish I had the $$$ right now to have bid on that one.

I have to agree. They were prepared for this and yet there are no better deals during the economy crisis. I guess we will have to wait and see how it looks the next Xmas season.

Also, you seem to have the misconception that the the threads you create belong to you somehow and that you can control what's posted in them - let me clear that up for you real quick:

In the most strict sense, they actually belong to Polk Audio, but for now we'll forget about the 'legal' nature of the forum's ownership and just talk in practical terms.

The threads you create belong to the whole community, everyone who reads and posts here. Once a thread is created, everyone has equal rights to post what they want, within the framework (rules) laid down by Polk Audio.

Typically what you see is that out of respect for the thread creator and the thread itself, most people who post will stay on topic, with the occasional derail that's usually innocent enough.

However, when you have someone who creates meaningless or dumb threads, no respect is paid for the content and those usually get off track fairly quickly. Likewise, when you have someone who's generally a nuisance and not liked by the forum, there tends to not be alot of respect for that person and their threads typically get derailed.

We all can fall into one of those buckets from time to time. The issue here is that you fall into both categories - you've had mostly meaningless threads and posts and have also alienated yourself from the forum with your trash talk, racism, and in general acting like an ****.

There's been a drastic reduction in material cost and other logistic inputs (fuel, etc). So far even this isn't helping manufacturers much. The natural resource cartels are busy trying to falsely choke supply. Congress thinks its a good idea, and would never think of passing anti-trust laws they once enacted over 100 years ago. It will only make things worse.

I think last deep recession in the 80s, didn't Polk go on a spending spree and buyout a bunch of companies, eventually absorbing them and dropping their brands?

Retailers think they are smart with JIT inventories, so far walmart is the only master of that game. Target is always caught flat-footed. Not that these matter to AV manufacturers, but the same stupidity is happening all along the food chain. The end result is retailers don't ever stock what there is suddenly demand for, and consumers get pissed.

This is one sucky computerized recession.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.
