As the title suggests, I'll be soon purchasing these 3 polk speakers that will retail at just under 1600 dollars. I allready have the fxi 6's.

My question is Whats the best way to go about buying these, seems like the prices are the same just about everywhere. Best buy doesn't sell the rti a line where I live. As far as I know they have them at American Electronics/furniture store, and online such as Crutchfield.

I've been reading a lot about haggling for better deals but I've never done that before. I don't know what their cost is for the speakers so I wouldn't even know where to start.

You guys think I should take the sales tax discount from online or try talking them down at the store? Just tryin to save some money, thanks for any input.

Most of the items are refurbs, I have made several purchases on Polk Audio Direct and they are like brand new......but I have rarley seen any of the RTI-A line listed there.

My Lsi25s were bought off Polkdirect and they looked new to me. Same with my OWm3s. Either way, you have a 2 year warranty. In fact you'll often see people selling used Polk speakers in the flea market that are just as expensive as what you can get online from Polkdirect. The point is you could always sell them if you don't like what you got and not really lose anything. But I've not heard of anyone who has received a less than new pair speaker.

I bought them because they were cheap (paid about $100 with shipping, but you can do better if you're patient), they have a high WAF, and I was curious. They sound good to me but I'm not very demanding. Just be aware that they do not come with wall mounts. You have to buy them from a third party. I have mine sitting on the end tables on the sides of my sofa. Not ideal but that's where they are. Two channel is really what interests me.

Guess that won't help much if they don't sell rti a series on ebay often, not sure i'd want to buy refurbished anyways

Think theres any chance of haggleing the price down at the store, or should I go with crutchfield?

I've seen the a7's on ebay from polk direct and from different vendors. Both new and refurbs. I wouldn't rule out refurbs so quickly. I got my csi a6 (a refurb) from polk direct for crazy cheap, with warrenty. Looks brand new, sounds brand new, just didn't cost brand new. That big box thingy- as my wife calls it -puts a smile on my face every time I walk in the room.

Call Polk Audio, and ask about refurbs for the A7's, and A6.

I own the A9's, and the A6. Both refurbs, they came to me in brand new condition. no problems at a great price. If i was you I would ask about refurbs for the A9's as well.

    Welcome to show and tell.

I'm in agreement, the Polk audio refurbs are a stellar deal, I have to say the speakers I bought as refurbs were brand new, I even had to go through the break-in period so I know they were not used before.

The only down side to Polk Audio is having to pay tax..:(

I would recommend the polk ebay store as well. I talked to the polk representative (as I will be making the exact same purchases as you, rti a7's, csi a6, and fxi a4's) and he said they would be on polk direct in a week or two probably. The prices will be about 6-700 for a pair of rti a7's and under 200 for the csi a6. Great deals, as they really are essentially new. Refurbished, as you can read from their site, simply means that polk had certified them to be of "new" caliber. Hope this helps.

Yup...same here....got my RTiA3s on Polks ebay store...and some LSi7s that are making the rounds among some Polkies - fantastic deals, perfect condition.

The RTiA series do seem to come in waves and not always available - but, could be worth the wait....only you can decide that.

    Good luck,

Exactly. Most of the time, the refurbs are simply returned items with open boxes.

It's not as if Polk fished a bunch of beat up speakers out of dumpsters and cleaned them up, to sell to you...lol
