Mon 7 and 10 fuses

Hey guys. I have recently blown both fuses in my 7's and 10's.

I would describe the listening level at "spirited" not "ludacrious"

They both had a 250v 1amp fuse.

This seems like a rather small amp rating.

Since I am not the original owners I have no idea what is suppose to be in there.

    They use 1A 250V fuses.

    I've ran my monitor 10's pretty hard and never been able to blow the fuse.

    Not at all. Again I'm not jamming them. Not sure why it is doing it.

    Just my opinion but you have to be clipping. As I remember the fuses are 1 amp fast blow.

    OK. By clipping I am assuming that you guys mean that the amp is briefly distorted or clicking. I haven't experienced that. The amp runs fine until the fuse blows.

    I like that..."spirited" listening. 1A 250V.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    It could be due to aging electronics. If you dare, try a 2A fuse but do NOT DARE going above that level. That is 4X the wattage level above 1A at the same voltage rating.

    You are right dorokusai, "spirited" is a cool term. I like "spirited" music as well!

    It is mostly suspected, the amp will not handle such a level, causing it to clip the speakers.

    By pass the fuse! Most Polk enthusiasts will remove their poly switches and replace them with a jumper on the crossover board. For the Model 5, 7 or 10's just remove the backing plate, clip the wires and solder them together.

    If you are worried about damaging your tweeters, make sure that you are using a clean, high power amp.

    If you like to listen to music at insane volume levels, go get yourself a different set of speakers. Your probably loading up the room so much there is no stereo image, instrument detail, depth in the sound stage or anything else that Polk speakers are famous for providing.
