I just got this back a few days ago from Bobs repair shop and Rita did an awesome job on it! this amp kicks ****, and Bob himself signed it! I used to have the Carver Cube and this is much better. The only downside is a nat-**** hum that goes through the tweets but even a whisper and you cannot tell its present. it was not as bad with the LS 90,s but it makes that up in clarity. The Rotel 990 is real close, maybe after it breaks in some more as it was new. I got this ear splitting loud and only got the second set of led to flicker, this has some serious power. So anyone with vintage Carver gear that needs repairing be sure and give Rita a call 425-530-9557.:D

That is great Bob Carver is involved with repairs of his equipment. I have some questions about the hum you mentioned. Did it occur before you sent it in for repair? Does the hum get louder as the volume increases? Is it still apparent? Or was it just new equipment jitters?

before it was like an electric razor it was loud and now it is just a very faint hum thats barely noticeable and seems to be getting even fainter, it could be my cables or something in my electrical and it has always been the same level regardless of volume. My power supply was off by 4v that could have damaged my speakers if left unprepared.

Every Carver amp I've ever owned has that "real faint buzz" at the speakers. It is a constant volume, and does not increase with rotation of the volume knob. I have to put my ears right up to the ribbons in order to hear the buzz. I believe they are all operating properly and the buzz is an artifact of the design.

It has to be, Rita went through it really well and made it like new again and said everything was measured and in orig factory specs. She even did some upgrades.

How long did it take to get the repairs done?
I sent my TFM 45 to her last week and I was just wondering what kind of turn around to expect.

I cant wait to get it back:D

total time from door to door was just over three weeks but they had issues with their billing and it sat for about a week just waiting to be shipped.

I sent my 1.5t to Rita as well. When I got it back, I heard the buzz in the right channel. I called her up and she said that it has something to do with the placement of something on the board. It does not get louder with the volume. I was worried that she was pulling my leg, but I feel better now that someone else has the same issue.

I have exactly the same issue with mine. but don't really notice it unless you stick your head up to the speaker.

My TFM-25 has a faint hiss right up at the speakers (left and right) that doesn't increase with volume. Like George Grand said, I think it's typical for Carver. I can't hear it in my listening chair.

On the return shipping a couple of caps got stress cracks in the solder and the left channel cut out altogether and when I called Rita she knew what it was right away. If anyone would know it would be her or Ben maybe. I re- soldered the caps on both sides that she tolled me to and it got noticeably better, but did not go completely away. When I put my ear to the speakers with all my amps they make some sort of hiss or faint buzz.

I've had over 10+ adcom amps and never had to send one to the repair shop. Not saying the Carvers don't sound great but if I got one I would wonder when it was going to take a crap.

I have a TFM 45 and 55X. A slight buzz that is noticable only when your ear is 2 inches away from the tweeter is normal. You should have it on both channels.

SOmething is wrong if you get it on only one channel.

Rolland serviced my 55x and will be doing my 45 in the next week or 2.

Less than 2 weeks turnaround. I bought the 55x on ebay as a repair/parts and it was rough. Came back from Rollands in excellent shape and sounding great.

The caps that were installed carver amps have a life span of about 20 years. Well that is the case with most cases caps in amps.
