How Much?

I have been looking at amps and AVR for my new SDA 1C's and I started wondering how much they can handle. I do have a budget for now(prob. get the avr first) but if I wait and save I could end up with a $2-3 thousand amp. Silly ? but could I over do it or will they just be really happy?:D

No, you can't over do it and yes, they will be very happy. Be careful if you're going to use an AVR, rarely do they provide clean high current power no matter what the specs say about wattage.

Great advise.:) -
There's no need to throw 2-3K at them unless you like something in that price range and have the coin. You can find used 2 channel amps in the $300-$500 range that will be an excellent solution for 1Cs. I've run mine off an AVR and separates from 80, 200, 250 and 375 wpc. The higher wattage amps sounded better, but that was just of my choices. An AVR will work, it will sound good, not stellar.

If you go with an AVR, try to get one with PRE-OUT's this way when you can afford to buy a seperate power amp you'll have no trouble connecting it to your system.
And remember you can never have too much power, you'll do more damage by underpowering your speakers than by overpowering them.

I only want the avr for my home theater control and yes it will have pre-outs. As far as spending the money on an amp, I want real quality and I know you get what you pay for. I personally don't think a grand or two is too much money, especially if it something you are going to keep for a while. I say this because I have noticed used or demo amps that sell for quit a bit more are that price. I have settled over the years (thats how I ended up with my present sony system) but now that I have the speakers I just as soon build around them.Polk SDA 1C's

Buy a two channel integrated with a HT pass through.I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

Some good reasoning here............but personally if I spend $2-3K on an amp I would not use and AVR as a pre-amp. Pretty much a waste for a higher end amp.
