The facotry speaker locations of my Xterra are god awful. The mids are just too far off axis to be useful.
Hopefully someone has some good details on the crossovers supplied with the SR6500.
I purchased some Dayton audio RS100-4 midrange drivers and am going to attempt and use the SR6500 crossover to split signal between the new daytons and the sr6500 tweeters. The SR6500 mids I will leave in the door as midbass drivers running from about 60hz-250hz.
My concern is if the SR6500 had a zobel network in them for the factory 6" mid range or any other part of the circuit I may need to bypass.
For clarification, the system will be:

Wouldn't it be easier to just find a different place for the 6.5" mids instead of trying to add a 3rd driver to the existing crossover network? either way you're going to be putting speakers in a nonstock location and I think you'd be happier with the sound without using an extra driver.

Any ideas on that other location?
The 6.5" is just to large a diameter to get any higher for what I can at least envision.
I can build a pod to get about 6" higher in the door but this appeared to be a very small change in angle and distance.
They certainly are not going to easily go into the a pillar or dash. -
You could fiberglass your door panels right and stick the woofer where ever you wanted. I don't have an xterra but I looked at interior pictures online and it looks like right under the door handle would be a great spot for them. If you were building a pod and fiberglassing you could also change the angle so as to have the woofer fire where you thought it sounded best.
Do you have a sub? Maybe it would improve the midrange if the woofers were crossed over higher? -
Looks like a good setup, you have there.
