My pre has no xlr in but does have xlr outs. Also my amps have both rca and xlr in.

I'm currently using rca all around. Would be an improvement if I go... source/rca/pre/xlr/amps?

Thanks

Whether there will be an improvement or not I suspect only you can tell by doing an A/B test.

I do know that my 2 channel system is completely XLR except for a digital SPDIF, is dead silent, and sounds great. However, I AM NOT going to try RCA ICs to find out if it gets better or worse. :)

Is your pre and amp true balanced?
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. Try it both ways. I have the capability to go balanced (xlr) from source to pre to amp but I prefer single ended RCA connections.

    +1.

If the pre and amp were far apart and required a long cable run then the extra immunity to noise provided by the XLR's might be benificial.

I think I will try out a pair of xlr. I have no idea if the equipments are true balanced.
    I don't have any noise issues with IC's. I"m using 1.5m IC's.
