SDA2a's and Monitor 10's driver configuration

The side by side drivers in my SDA2a's and the Monitor 10's are very similar, I think. I have read in many posts where some say the sound from the drivers when side by side gets kind of mixed up for lack of a better description. I generally read this when comparisons are made between the 10's and 7's. I've never read where this is a problem/concern with any other Polk speaker just the Monitor 10's. The sound from my 2a's is crisp, clear and well defined. As I remember the 10's I used to listen to were pretty good too but not in the same league as the 2a's. I don't think anyone ever complained about any of the SDA side by side configuration. My SDA SRS II's have side by side drivers with RDO's in between and they sound awesome.
Is that because of the technology of the SDA design?

Yes it is the SDA technology that makes the difference. The SDA 2's are essentially a two way configuration and the dimensional driver handles the sda information which does not conflict with the stereo driver. The dimensional driver also works in tandem with the stereo driver coupled to the passive radiator below 150 hz to produce bass.

Regular speakers and SDA's are completely different. Apples to Oranges.

I have a set of SDA 2Bs (TL mod) and a set of Polk Monitor 10Bs. I've been wondering - is there any reason why the Monitor 10Bs couldn't be modified to SDA technology (same question could be asked about Monitor 12s, RTA 12s, etc.)? There is a pair of SDA2B crossovers on eBay that I'm planning on buying - would that allow me to modify the 10Bs to "small SDA 2s"? Will I need to change the drivers to match those in the SDA 2s?

Or, should I just sell the Monitor 10s (my wife's vote) and just keep luvin' the SDAs that I have?

BTW, my monitor 10Bs are from 1984-85, with SL1000 tweeters and MW6501 drivers. The stock SDA 2Bs use SL2000 and MW6503/MW6511 (SDA driver).

    Yes.

There is more to SDA's than just the x-over. The drivers are mounted in the baffle in a certain way, which would not be the same in other Polk Monitors. You already have SDA's why bastardize a perfectly good pair of 10's? Doesn't make sense to me.
