RM20 or RM85
I am currently trying to decide on a 5.1 speaker system. F.S. currently have the RM20's on for 399.99 but no sub. They also have the RM85FS $999.99 which is the RM85's with a PSW125 Sub. I figure if I buy the RM20's at $399.99 and pick up a subwoofer for $250 I would be ahead of the game but which speakers are better the RM20's or RM85's?

1. Aluminium cabinet versus cheap composite / plastic cabinet...
2. Larger drivers and tweeters...
3. Slightly better Frequency response...
4. Slightly better power handling...
5. With the $600 left you can do better as far as the subwoofer IE: if you acquire the PSW404, means more bass power and lower bass frequency response ad there would probably be some money left from the $1K the RM85 would cost you!!!
The RM20 5pack is therefore a much, much, much better deal!!! However, I would suggest you have a listen!!!DARE TO SOAR:

Rm20s also have the five way binding posts. Pretty sure the RM85s don't (Just the cheapy push clips). I have the RM6880 (basically an RM10 set, with a little 60 watt sub). I love these things. I've since upgraded to an all RTi setup, but I refuse to sell my RM6880 because I think they're an amazingly good quality speaker.
My buddy also has the RM20 set with an MTX sub. He swears by the RM series. -
I've pretty much decided on the RM20. I was looking at the specs compared to the RM85 last night and I think the RM20's are a better choice. You're right the 5 way binding posts are better than the spring clips. Now I just have to decide on a sub to go with the set.

I own both the rm95's as well as the rm20's. I would put the rm 20's over the rm 95 95% of the time, and can only assume that the same would go for the 85's. I am selling a set on here of the rm20's if you would like. Brand new, black. Good luck with your speaker exploits either way!Bulls make money.

I guess he could use the sub also. Good luck to both of you, I hope you can both make a great deal.DARE TO SOAR:

Thanks technokid...probably should have thought of that...
Yea let me know if your interested, let me know your budget, I am sure we can make something work. I have been dying to get rid of these, so much to the point where I have cut 2-400 off the prices already.
