I sincerely hope all is better.

Could the manufacturer of the nail gun be negligent ?

The safety design should be engineered that an accidental triggering would not occur.

    suggest to get professional advice.....

Well I hope you heal quickly, wounds of any kind tears rips punctures to tendons hurt like a **** it always amazed me that such a small thing could cause so much pain.

Thanks all for the concern. I'm feeling ok. My pinky and the two fingers beside it work fine. The pointer and thumb are a different story. Whenever I try to grasp something using those two it shoots electricity like pain right up to my elbow. Something is very damaged. I'm supposed to see a surgeon about removing the barbs or not. I'll have to ask him what are the chances of full recovery. In the meantime my wages will be paid by the provincial Workers Compensation Board which covers 90% of net earnings at the time of injury. I work piece work and thank goodness (I guess) this happened while I was making the best money I'd made all year. I was given a script for Tylenol 3's but am trying to only use them at night. Yes I got a tetanus shot and a week of anti-biotics in case of infection. I am a softball player and am missing a big tournement this weekend but oh well. I'll coach bags or something. I found I couldn't drive my IROC-Z because it's a five speed stick so it's back to the winter Neon for a while. Good thing is my boy is done school for summer and I'll be able to spend some quality time with him. Just no sports or wrestling etc. Thankyou all again for your well wishes.

Would this information be helpful or even related ? I do not recall seeing what make the tool you had been using.....

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: DEWALT D51825 and D51850 Framing Nailers

    Units: About 9,000

Distributor: DEWALT Industrial Tool Co., of Towson, Md.

Hazard: The bump action trigger on the framing nailers could have been incorrectly assembled during production, which would allow the nailer to eject a fastener unexpectedly or cause the trigger lock-off not to function. This can pose a serious injury hazard to the user or bystander.

    Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: DEWALT framing nailers with model numbers and date codes listed below:

Model Number Description Date Code Range
D51825 Clipped Head Framing Nailer 20080249-20082749
D51850 Full Round Head Framing Nailer 20080249-20082749

Sold at: Wholesale distributors and retailers nationwide from January 2008 through September 2008 for about $280.

    Manufactured in: Mexico

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the framing nailers and contact DEWALT for instructions on receiving a free replacement bump action trigger.

Consumer Contact: For additional information, contact DEWALT toll-free at (877) 437-7181 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit the firm's Web site at www.DEWALT.com

Thanks JvC but it was a Senco coil nailer. My partner has since tried to make it misfire but in all cases the safety seemed to work as intended. I must have had my hand on the trigger while the safety was fully depressed.

UPDATE.... surgery on Monday July 13 to repair possible nerve and tendon damage. I have very limited range of movement and substantial numbness in my index finger and thumb and still huge pain when I grip stuff with the bad hand. Hopefully the surgeon will find and fix the trouble. Still off work but now receiving worker's compensation payments. Looks like now I'll be down until September. Oh well, summer with my son so far has been fun. Wish me luck.

Sissy. Walk it off and sack-up. I've pulled splinters out twice as big as that. No ER or X-ray needed.

Good luck. Even if surgery doesn't work, nerve damage can heal on it's own, it may take a while though.

When I was ten my mother told me to bring her the ice pick. As a good little boy, I held it just like I would hold a pair of scissors, point down. As I was running toward the stairs in my slippery socks I slid on the wood floor and tripped up the stairs. Naturally the ice pick went right through my wrist as I reached out to brace myself. A vivid memory but not a happy one!

    Heal.

Glad to hear the news Kelvin. Sounds like you're on the way to a full recovery.
Now, take that hand and **** slap yourself for being so careless. :p

Actually I did that by accident the night of the surgery. I went to bed, arm still frozen, rolled over and cracked myself hard in the head.

George...that's my left hand, I use my right for check writing, nose picking, **** wiping, and hand shaking so I'm good.
