My wallet wont be pleased, but I will be picking up the cd tomorrow.
The CD was 10 dollars at a local target. You will be lucky to find it really. My Mom picked my copy up in the morning, in the afternoon all the stores were out of stock. Good luck though.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

This CD is a keeper.
The quality is OK. Its brightly recorded, I can still hear some popping and hiss with it, but its much improved over the DareDevil tracks, must have been mixed by a different individual.
The Music in itself is pretty good, definately the kind I can vibe to. There is no crappy track that I will have to worry about skipping over, which is rare these days. Great stuff!
My only complaint, quality aside, is that they are missing some of my favorite songs............. wtf ? ? ? I guess the Mp3's I have are meant for their next release? I was really looking foward to owning "Eternity", and using it as a Demo track.
A happy, yet somewhat disappointed.....,
Sean
ATC, All the tracks on the shareware were released by Windup records. They released all the tracks that Evanescence recorded for them. They chose the tracks by the most downloaded. (If I am not mistaken.) I am not sure if the Eternity was even recorded by Evanescence, but it was an awesome piece of work. I find the quality good and I dont even get a hiss from my speakers. Which is usually weird with female vioces.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Yeah, Windup has pretty bad recordings. Windup is the one that released those butchered copies. I am playing the cd through my computer speakers since i am unplugging some stuff from my stereo and moving it around, and they cant handle the treble. However They did get rid of alot of songs. 11 songs dont make me like to spend money really.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

All things considered, I feel this CD is WELL worth the 10 dollar asking price. I dont regret the purchase one bit and am proud to have a new face in the collection.
Its quite pathetic really, someone who spends as much money and time with audio, has hardly any music to actually listen to.
You know, I agree with you. Well worth 10 dollars. I dont skip tracks. I dont even skip the slow ones, which is highly unusual for even me. I have a small collection as well, like 25 retail cds. I have about 100 burnt REAL cds though. Ohh well.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Well I had read this thread a few days ago, downloaded a few mp3's and was impressed enough to get the CD. A good purchase in my opinion. Strong vocals, and good riffs. Nice debut album.

Does anyone else here her voice distorting on the high notes? Is this just my JVC receiver and RT55i's? what gives? Will try on main system on monday. I paid 14 tonight, unforunately (11 tracks 44 minutes..?). I've listened to it 3 or 4 times over now. I like the music but they seem like they might be a one trick dog, I forgot which song exactly now but the music pattern is so much like 'bring me to life' that I find myself expecting the lyrics from that song only for it to be something else...

Ceruleance
I have this cd also and it does have quite a bit of "sibilance" to it at the end of her voice on some of the higher notes. Its the hhhsssss you hear. It's in the recording although I have noticed since I got the Rotel that the "sibilance" has been considerably tamed over the Yamaha receiver I had.

Just got the cd and have had one listen so far. I really like it. It's a unique sound, but I dig it.

Picked the CD up 4 days ago and it has yet to leave my player. I haven't enjoyed a CD like this in a very, very long time. Songs are excellent and there's not a bad track on the disc.

Hey all, just saw on MTV that Evanescence will be on MTV Hard Rock live from Orlando Wed night at 8 pm!

I picked this CD up a month ago.... from all the hype. i thought i'd take a chance and check em out. I listened to it over a two week period. the whole darn CD. I cant' get into it at all.
All the songs sound the same to me. I know. I know...
whatever happen to groups who on their albums/CD's each song was different, and unique? I guess in todays musical scene.. putting out 10 or 12 songs that all sound the same.. get a group airplay.
Strange how very little talent is needed by todays standards to become musicians.
I'm not just picking on Evanescence, there are many many bands out there that are playing the same gig. A few years from now.. no one will even remember Evanescence.
sorry for being such an **** today.. it's not like me at all. but what the hell. :rolleyes:PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I borrowed that CD from my brother and I'm not impressed at all. The problem is that many underground foreign bands have done it even ten years ago. To me Evanessance sounds like a cheap knock off.
Listen to Lacuna Coil and you'll trash Evanessence www.lacunacoil.it

No, it's not Evanessance
She's much hotter than the Evanessance chick too

thank you, Maurice!
finally someone else who isn't impressed with Evanescence like me.
Remember a few years back. when Creed was all over the radio?? every hour on the hour they would play Creed music. blech!
where the hell is Creed now?
it's designed to be manufactured short shelf life music. To get radio play for 6 months then it's gone..PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert  -
Mainstream music is all it is, Mainstream. It's kinda like WWE - They wrestle for acting, the Olympic wrestlers don't get twice the notice but could kick any of their tails. Its all the supply and demand. Honestly, I wish there were more bands like Dream Theater (with different singers -- OH GOD!)
The Music Industry signs a band then lets them a release a cd or two, then they let them go
Creed is no one, I think they are complete lame mofos with absolutely NO talent, AT ALL - very over rated in all sense.
Evanescence is a good band, better than most mainstream bands out there...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Sean,
All the stuff I listen to is pretty much underground except for my small classical and opera collection. If you love the hybrid goth/rock/metal, you will definately love Lacuna Coil. They're underground in North America but popular as hell in Italy and many parts of Europe. The band I provided a link for, Nightwish, is a hybrid of metal, opera and a touch of goth. The female vocalist is one of the best soprano I've heard. She's so good that she's up there with the legendary soprano, Maria Callas. There's a few MP3's on their site if you're interested. The bands on napalm records also have some MP3's.
danger boy,
Oh man, I think I heard Creed on the radio and TV at least 1324 times. I think radio and television is responsible for watering down a lot of stuff out there.
Sid,
Isn't Dream Theatre power metal with very clean vocals? If you like that stuff, check out Kamelot. They're one of a kind. Best album to start with is "The Fourth Legacy".
Even though Evanescence(finally got the speling right:)) is not my cup of tea, IMO, they're much better than a lot of the mainstream crap out there. If you lke the last track on the CD, every song on Tristania is exactly the same way but much better and heavier with a larger choir. Tristania will give your RTi70 a really nice workout:).

Dream Theater is one of a kind. They have some of the best Drummers, Guitarist, Keyboardist, Singers around. They have been around for over 10 years if not more than 15, but I will say no higher than 10 because then I could end up being wrong. But they are quite an old band with heavy duty gear, huge drum sets, awesome guitars. The singer is more of an opra style, but he can reach highs and lows easily. They are an awesome band.
Evanescence is a good band, they need a new CD already though. Only problem with Mainstream bands, their songs sound alike so a new cd is a must after a year......- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
BTW - thanks for the bands listed above, I will look into all of them eventually, my friend is pissed because yall said Evanescence is cheap knock offs though, She is like........a Evanescence freak.....she has all their songs. Im like.....their not THAT good.....- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Sean,
I'm sure you're going enjoy the newest LC album (Comalies). They have a very unique sound but I do enjoy their albums "In a Reverie" and "Lacuna Coil" a little more. I like "Unleashed Memories" as much as "Comalies". The production on "Comalies" is kick **** especially in bass, slam and dynamics.
LC was here back in May for a concert but because of summer school I didn't get a chance to see them:(. I hope they come back.
The female vocalist in Nightwish is very hot too:).
Sid,
Thanks for the info on Dream Theatre! I'll have to get thir CD next time I go to the record store. I like that stuff. From your description, it sounds like Nightwish but with male operatic vocals. Nightwish is a metal band with operatic female vocals and kick **** drumming as well as some epic orchestration by a keyboardist.
Tell your friend I apologize for my comment on Evanescence. Just tell her what we always say to the forum newbies, "What matters is that it sounds good to you":).

Organ,
If you get dream theater I suggest three albums...1) Images and Words (This is their first great album), 2) Scenes Froma a Memory (which is basically a rock opera based on one of the songs from Images and Words) and 3)Awake (whis is just one headbanging song after another....buy far their heaviest album)
Enjoy.....:)
Sid....BTW- they have been around since the late 80's...:) -
Organ...one other thing. After buying or listening to those three albums I just recommended, then go out and buy their new one "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance". You will appreciate it so much more. It's a two disk CD. The first disk consists of five various songs, and the the second disk is basically one 48 minute song that deals with psychotic(sp?) behavior. Very interesting to say the least. Both CD's are a combined 90+ minutes of music.

avelanchefan,
Thanks a lot for the info. I'll get "Scenes From a Memory" first(I LOVE operatic metal). I'll remember to get the newest release last. From you description, DT's music sounds like one of those "mood filter" bands like Opeth where you have to be in the "mood" to really appreciate the record. That 48min song is going to be crazy. My fav song is "Queen of Winter Throned" by Cradle of Filth and it's just over 10min long. Limbonic Art have songs that reach the 15min mark but damn, 48min is looong!. Again, thanks for the suggestion.
