All those who are for some reason detained from contact with their beautiful instruments of sound...

"I am 20, attend the honors college at Penn State, and am doing an internship in New York at Bank of America. I live with two other males in a dormitory setting, both of whom do not share my innate Penn State desire to have fun. To further worsen my situation, as a result of this country's drinking age, I have been ostracized by most of the social gatherings in the city. I have recently done all of the research I can online regarding the speakers I will buy (rti a7's, csi a6, fxi a6's, svs pb12 ultra) but as a result of them not being on Polk direct yet (I want them cheap, I am a college student, go figure) I find myself waiting until the beloved date August 14. Slowly deteriorating in a puddle of my own sadness, 2 hours away from my home that has my other speaker set, I think I am dying. My roommates are boring, there is not a decent set of speakers that I can call mine in sight, and there is no easy way to get alcohol. Waiting for speakers to come so you can have a Christmas that you bought yourself is one of the worst experiences in the world. This is terrible."

Maybe I will go spend another day in the demo sections of the J&R store down the street...

Hang in there brother it only gets better.

Why are you telling him that for?

    1. When you get out of college you will have to go to work which means you will have not have the time to party. Plus the older you get the harder it is to get up the next morning if you do party.

    2. You will have to pay taxes. Nuf said on that one.

    3. Woman your age now will not even know you exist when you have money and the nice car because you won't be 20 any more.

    4. You will have to pay taxes. Yes I am saying that twice but it really sucks.

    5. After you think you found the right woman and have kids then you find out your life is now over. Every waking moment is centered around raising your children. Not that is a bad thing but forget about that stereo. The you will wake the children.

    6. You will have to pay even more taxes now because I am now retired and collecting Social Security. And no you will most likely not be able to collect.

Moral of the store is you should be having the time of your life. Don't wait for what tomorrow will bring. Do things now and enjoy life. Because you will never get your youth back.

Seriously, the majority of college students are under 21, there's plenty of fun to be had, just go out and find it dude. Join a frat or something if you're desperate.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

So true...I guess I am hung up in the sadness now. And I thought money is happiness? Looks like I am going to need a lot of that... And I am in a frat, Sigma Phi Epsilon, but I guess when you step out of state college you actually have to look for places to party. At state you can walk out your door and accidentally fall into one. Did you know you can live in Cancun at a full service resort for about 60-70 grand a year? Decent option for retirement (if not regular life). Thanks for the support though guys. I am from a place where I was surrounded by farms, more likely to hit a deer than a person. NY is different, but its been fun.

Don't get too concearned about it. If your lonely, place yourself in situations where you likely to meet people. You might even do some volunteering. Don't laugh at that suggestion. It helps you to network and meet girls as they tend to volunteer more than guys. It has the added benefit of looking good on a resume later as well.

Bye the way, fun can be had without drinking.

Anyway, there are always ups and downs in life. Things will improve.

If there is a Barnes and Noble or Books A Million go spend some time sitting in there too. There's tons to look at. Drinking... I haven't drank in 25yrs. and have had alot of fun and no DUI's either.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Get car speakers. The 20 minute commute to school every day was my fun time to blast music. I went an entire month without a stereo in my car but for my bday in Octobermy girlfriend bought me a car amp so I could finally power the momo comps I bought.

Don't get me wrong, I don't really like car audio and my momo's certainly aren't SDAs but they kept me sane.

My kind of place. NYC is cool for about a day once every 4 or 5 years. What a rat race.

I 100% agree! Farms are more peaceful, none of that havoc that comes along with grit and musky air in a subway. Ps guys, im not an alcoholic, it is just nice to congregate around a big ny social scene (which tends to have alcohol, and exclude those outside the age range). Cant put speakers on a subway either!
