Which is the best version of the SDA SRS??
I have been reading far too much about the "big boys"...the SDA SRS. I am thinking about going for a set if I can work out some stuff to raise the money.
That being said, what version is the best?? I see all kinds of talk about upgrading and people saying some versions can't be upgraded?? I don't want to buy a pair only to learn that I should have gotten the other version...1.2,,,1.2TL....2.3???
Can I get input from people who know....I certainly don't...
Thanks a lot!!

The last generation SDA's were the best IMO, had the latest technology. I have no idea what's "best" for you or even what that means to you.
The "TL" series being the last series is probably the "best" but that's subjective. You really need to focus on what electronics you'll be using and the room they will be in. It's very easy to "overload" a smaller to mid sized room with the big SRS's or SRS 1.2's.
If you look at SRS 2's they need a beefier amp becuase they are harer to drive........but the more power and high current you can throw at SDA's the better they sound. I've found that they keep sounding better and better as you run better higher end gear.
You'll have to be more specific about what you want to do with the SDA's and how you're going to use them.
All of them can be upgraded in one way or another, and they all sound great. If you want to use mono's to run them then there are some better model choices that make it easier, etc......things like that is waht I mean about deciding how/what you want to run them with and where.

heiney9,
Thanks for your input, kinda shows what I mean by saying I don't know...
By best, I mean the most accurate sound, great soundstage and imaging...ctc.... I would like to have a setup one day that is as close to being there live as I can afford.
I currently have my setup in a very large and open room...probably couldn't make it much worse...maybe someday that will change. I currently use the Sunfires in my signature for amps, have no plans to change that for a while. I do like to listen very loud at times, not all the time though. I use my main system for both HT and 2 channel...getting more into that lately. I am also starting to use the turntable again..
Thanks again!Pio Elete Pro 520

1.2tl or 2.3tl and upgrade the tweeters if they have not when you get them and later on the x-overs as well, and some other sound tweaking mods. Be prepared to get in the hole 1000-3000 $$$ depending on which ones and how much tweaking you do on them. But sometimes you can get lucky and find a bargain.
As far as the best sounding its all a matter of personal preference and equipment used. -

I have completely tweaked out 1.2 TLs and I've heard Jesse's completely tweaked out 2.3 TLs. I like them both equally although I never heard them side-by-side to do an A/B comparison.

So the original SDA SRD aren't as good as the later ones??Pio Elete Pro 520

They look like SDA SRSs vanilla. -
So the original SDA SRD aren't as good as the later ones??
That is definetely a matter of opinion but I don't think the SRSs sounds as good as the 1.2 TLs. -

What do you mean by "good".
Every new model had some changes in the drivers, x-overs and cabinets. Original SRS's were outstanding. SRS 1.2's were a bit of an improvement and then the SRS 1.2 TL's were an improvement over the 1.2's most notable was the sl3000 tweeter.
It's hard to put a percentage on how much better each is over the other. All 3 are outstanding SDA's and there is NOTHING out there today that even comes close for less than $5-7K and even then you don;t get the SDA properties.
So let's say as a ballpark the each of the 1.2's are 10% better than the previous model.

I've heard the 1Cs, 2Bs, CRS+ and a few minutes of 1.2TL. While I'd like a shot at the big boys in my living room, all of the SDAs sounded equally good to me from the midbass to the top. The depth, slam and scale of the larger SDAs are very enticing, but practicality makes more sense to me than speaker envy. There are differences in the models I've had here. The 1Cs are more laidback and warmer than either the 2B or CRS+.

My srs have better bass than my 1.2tl did, MANY members agree on this. I have modded 2.3tls and the original SRS eat them up in the bass department. If I were to do it over I think the original srs with rdo tweets would be the way to fly, I would bet they would be 98%ers with better bass.
