Does anyone know if I can use the interconnect cable from the SDA CRS+ on the earlier CRS with the 2 tweeters? If it fits, will they function the same?
Thanx,
From the newbie........

Sure, as long as it's the same plug style...

The 2 tweeter is blade/blade and the one tweeter(+) is pin/blade so it will not work.

You can order the blade/blade from POLK or check out ebay.

All CRS are blade/blade and the early CRS+ are too.

Both my CRS and CRS+ had blade/blade, I just couldn't remember if the CRS+ were the early stock or not.

To the OP if the socket for the SDA interconnect has two slots it is blade/blade. If it had a hole and a slot it is pin/blade.

Many thanks to all who replied to my question!
I do have many questions comming up - so I will try not to overload the board. And, I am very excited to have found this sight. So, bear with me while I get the hang of this.
Observation during audition of the following: Comments welcome!
Both pairs, (CRS+ circa 86') and (dual tweets CRS circa 84') are both blade to blade. Oriantation wise, upper blade being the wider, lower, the narrower. There is however a noticable difference in playback between the 2 pairs. The dual tweets CRS's (when ballance is set to either L/R speaker), (the channel not being used), displays a much louder output than the CRS+pr. I'm not sure why - but it sounds like both speaker output equal volume weather or not the R/L ballance is selected? It is a very noticable difference when compared to the CRS+'s under same circumstances.?????????!!!!!!!!!

That's because the outer tweeter is an SDA tweeter and will still produce sound like the SDA mid-driver when the balance is full one way or the other. Since the tweeter in the CRS+ is not part of the SDA signal it will not produce sound when the balance is one way or the other, hence you hear a greatly reduced output since everything above 2000kHz isn't playing. In short, there's nothing wrong with your CRS+ speakers. In fact, many folks disconnect that SDA tweeter in the SDA's that use it because it makes things sound funny, which in turn is why Polk got rid of the SDA tweeter idea.

Your response makes perfect sense... I should have been able to figure that out on my own. I guess I was so preocupied with jumping back and forth between the 2 prs. and believing something must be incompatible.
I just recently picked up the early CRS's to have for back-up parts for my CRS+ pr. Now all I have to do to satisfy my 'analality' (is this really a word?) for perfection,is to find a replacement SDA pin receptical for one of the dual tweets box. The receptical has had it's contacts spread to the point that the SDA cable no longer fits snugly into it. It's glued from the inside and using dental pics to tighten up the gaps from the outside (in order to hold the spades snug like it's mate speaker can do),has failed. I had scanned through the forum till my eyes watered, and remembered seeing something about replacement female spade recepticals for the SDA interconnect - but can't seem to relocate the thread.
Sorry to be such a neucense.......:o

If you want to make some cables, you can get the blade-blade connectors from Allied. They are called Cinch Jones connectors. Here is a Link
