There are definatley better subs out there but they are not bad. I have had one for a while and eventually I will be getting something better but that is the nature of having audio as a hobby.
I'm sure others will chime in with suggestions of what you should buy but try this one for a while and see what you think.

+1 on Reno's comments. I also have a PSW125 and while subs aren't really Polk's strong suit and the 125 is def. not their "flagship" sub it is still a pretty descent sub. $180 isn't a bad price either, if you are happy with the results and with your current setup I would say it is a pretty good match. Don't worry the upgrade bug WILL bite, and in the meantime save your cash and move up the ladder to an SVS or Velodyne when your budget allows. I am happy with mine and it will be around for awhile.HT Rig

My first real HT sub was a Polk PSW12 (the 125s predecessor). It was OK, but had lots of port noise at high volumes and was a real pain placement-wise. The 125, at least, addresses the port noise by restricting the low end and bottom porting. The 12 played a bit lower and had a front port that could boom, boom, boom, like a little devil.
The new DSW series has resolved most of these problems and is the best series Polk has put out...but in a small to medium room the 125 is OK.
As Reno says...you have to start somewhere. Subs are a bit like the holy grail...just when you think you have it, a new quest suggests itself.
I'm currently running a Boston Acoustics 12" 300 watt sub, and it's better than the PSW12 was, but it still has its limitations and I now have my eye on the 1200-1500 dollar 1000 watt subs....does it EVER END????

Keep your eyes feasted on an svs...I used to have a dswpro 400 (up for sale now) and I just got an svs pb12 ultra that is just miles of imprvement over the polk sub. DSW's are good subs no doubt, but I am definitely happy I went with this svs.sigh* I'm still on my velodyne but would love to get add an SVS in the mix. Funds atm wouldnt allow for such a purchase, although it would bt unnecessary as well considering I have a small-medium sized living room. Even on my current setup, it's overkill.Truck setup

As long as you are happy then it was a good buy. I have gone through 3 phases with subs.
Started with a small Definitive Technology sub. 10" 250 watts. Was nice and good for an apartment. Got good base but was not overpowering.
Went to no sub for a while. I have two pairs of speakers that go down to 20hz and I have some nice amps to power them.
Now I have a Sunfire True sub. I do not need it but I always wanted one so when I found one at a good price I could not pass it up.Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t -
Oh I am very happy with it. I haven't used it too much though considering my neighbors (who are actually getting evicted) complain that their stuff rattles/falls off the walls constantly.Truck setup

I'm also finding my upgraditis begins the minute you get something new. What a pain. I have hard the sub, and I agree that it's a fine sub, but you may some day be looking to upgrade to something with a little more power. It all depends on the size of the room, the placement within the room, the receiver, and the speakers that it is matched with.

Pycroft
I couldn't agree more Pycroft...and I'm saving my pennies for it. My favorites are Velodyne and SVS in that higher range. The room's not the biggest but adequate (11.5 X 25 X 8.5) (only the first 16.5' are listening space for surround sound, and the Boston does OK in that...I have a second Boston that I might add into that room for 500 watts RMS/1000 watts peak. But I'll end up with an SVS or a Velo in a year or more.
