Hi,

This is my first post to the forum, it’s very informative and enjoyable really.

According to Routers, Myspace will cut its staff by 30 percent. As you can guess, Facebook and Twitter are very powerful competitors of myspace. There are many more competitor in online community industry and I wonder which one will become most powerful. Any predictions?

Hopefully they all go out of business, and kids start leaving their houses, and interacting in person again.

Perhaps it would help with the obesity problems we have in this country as well.

I can't lie, I have a Myspace account. I also check it all of 3-4 times a month, opposed to some of the kids out there that practically live on there.

I don't how these places make money to stay afloat. I bet they sell tons and tons of the information given up for nothing for millions in return.

Grumpy old men? lol...I'm 22! I don't think that exactly counts as old. I can be kind of grumpy sometimes when I first wake up in the morning though.

C'mon, I'm with the times. I do have a Myspace account. I just find it to be ridiculously pointless.

LOL, Curt you grumpy old man!!!! I agree 100%, my 14 yr old daughter just got a Myspace (much to my dismay) and has lived on there ever since. I don't have a Myspace and don't see myself getting one, and think all it is is an online popularity contest. Nothing but drama and seeing who has the most pics. and pic. comments, lol. Anywhoot, death to Dramaspace!!

Myspace is more addicting than crack. It's probably more unhealthy too.:p

Yes, there is a difference. With myspace, the majority of the people that members talk to, are their normal friends, whom live within a few miles of them. Yes, they have other friends from all over the country, but few and far between. When you talk to your local friends more online, than in person, there is a problem.

I hang out on here a lot, but that's a lot different. There are some members here that are fairly local to me, and I've met a couple of them, but the majority are hundreds, or thousands of miles away. I'm not talking to the guy that live 3 blocks away from me on here. When I want to talk to my friends, I call them, and actually hang out with them. Myspace takes away from that for a lot of kids these days. They live on Myspace, and that's where their entire social life is.

Rather than talking, they probably text.

Quite true. I was reading something a while back regarding that. I forget the percentage, but there are a lot of cell phone users that send around 5000 texts a month. Yeah...5 THOUSAND. Figuring that you sleep for about 8 hours a night, that comes out to one text every 5-6 minutes. Do these people do anything besides texting? Do they work? I mean..c'mon now, try calling these people every now and again. Better yet, go and talk to them in person. How do people even have time to send that many texts? It's ridiculous.
