Can anyone rec where to purchase CD's and DVD's to use as reference material? I like to play around with the settings on my system and feel it would be good if the disk had lots of short pieces of music/movies for comparison.
thanks,

My reference CD is Joe Satriani - "Strange Beautiful Music"
and my reference DVD is "Saving Private Ryan" (Beachhead scene and defending the bridge scene)
- I especially recommend SPR if you use the DTS version.~Matt

I've posted this link before for DTS DVD's, but here it is again for your reference.

Some of my recommendations:
Gladiator
Lord of the Rings-Two Towers
Spiderman 1 and 2 (Superbit)
Underworld (Superbit)
Master and Commander
Blade 2
Air Force One (Superbit)
Black Hawk Down (Superbit)
The Patriot (Superbit)
Apollo 13
War of the Worlds (Tom Cruise)
Black Hawk Down on superbit! I actually bought that years ago and have only listened to it on an old HTIB. I can't wait to check it out on my new system. thxTesting

Yeah if your version isn't DTS, you might consider going to the nearest CD exchange and trading it on the DTS version used if they have it. They'll probably look at you funny but they'll likely do an equal value trade +- a couple bucks depending on the condition.
I also sometimes use Apollo 13 launch scene for brute force reference.~Matt

I'm surprised no one has mentioned a couple of Will Smith movies:
1) ID4 (exiting the "mother ship" towards the end of the movie)
2) I, Robot (the robots attacking car scene)
