Rude **** postal service employee

OK, so I moved in with my girlfriend recently and sent my landlord the forwarding address for her to mail my deposit ($1100) to me. It was sent certified mail, with a tracking number. The tracker says it was delivered at 0750 on Monday, the 15th of this month, but we got nothing. I called the postal service help desk and asked for assistance on this matter. When I finallly got a hold of the customer service person, she was rude, short on help and practically hung up on me when I asked if she would be the one following up on the matter. She said they would look into who signed for it but that it was in a database that was not available to them yet (after 48 hours?). Anyway, I'm usually really understanding with customer service people as they have a hard enough job as it is, but this lady really pissed me off. Any suggestions as to how I should proceed from here??

I can only offer sympathies here... Do you live in a new apartment? Perhaps another tennant/manager signed for it. I would not handle it in the same manner as postal employees do:eek:...

Nope, not planning on shooting up the place. I live in a house, not an apartment. I made sure the address I gave my landlord was correct. I can only assume it was sent to the wrong place and someone else signed for it and is trying to cash it. Either way, I'm going to get to the bottom of this. I dont care how many people I have to bother to get satisfaction!

I thought you could look up online who signed, but maybe that's UPS/FedEx. Worth looking into though.

Had the very same type of thing occur with a USPS money order sent to a club member certified mail..........3-4 weeks later it made it to where it should have been...problem was they said they had to wait 2-3 weeks before they would even trace it.........but mine never showed it was delivered....need to get in touch with that local PO and see if you can talk to the delivery person that was supposed to deliver it..see if they remember it....either way hope they act a bit faster than htey did here....also wouldnt even attempt the MO trace for 4 weeks.............and they wonder why the postal system is failing......................

I signed for a certified letter at work the other day that was to someone in our HR department. All the postal carrier asked was, "Do you work here?"

Considering it said right on it, "Human Resources" and was from an insurance co, I think they should've gotten ahold of the person it was addressed to. No worries for them this time, though... I hand delivered it like a good little boy.

Go to the local post office and ask to speak to an assistant postmaster or the postmaster. Nicely explain what happened and ask for their help.
