As some surpising news that I read, game 7 between the pens and red wings was the most watched NHL game since 1973. And since this forum is generally full of non hockey fans, I wanted to see if the matchup and hype finally got you into (or gotten you back into) the great sport of hockey.

By the way, the penguins parade yesterday had estimated crowd of 375,000. Now that might sound small compared to other major cities, the steelers victory parade ran around 350,000. Who woulda thought a hockey team could come even close to the numbers of the almighty steelers (though it being 80 degrees and with school out kinda helped;))

I watched most of the Wings games starting in the 2nd round of the playoffs even if they were DVR delayed. Didn't miss any of the finals. In previous years, I never missed a televised Red Wings game, but I'm not as big a fan since the strike. These days, I'm really not watching near as much sports since my children are a priority.

Everything, yes everything gets canceled during Stanley Cup. It's just the way it is and the way it will always be. Phone rings - take a message.

My GF and I are huge hockey fans, and it was a great series. We got what we wanted in the end and it sure was a nail biter!! Blackhawks fans first and foremost, but GO PENS LOL!!

My son and I watched every game or parts of games that we could during the play offs. We were busy running around for his spring hockey leage so we would miss parts of games. My son who is 8 was picked to play in a tournament in Toronto in August, so with no hockey until then we have to make do with watching vintage hockey on the NHL Network at bed time for now. We would be at the rink year round if we could.

I voted..."I have no interest in hockey period." Of course, you can replace hockey with baseball, basketball, football, or pretty much any other sport.

So since you and mostly everyone else in "surf city CA" could care less about hockey, why in the hell is there two teams in LA. Its pathetic see two huge parades the past two years in detroit and pittsburgh (1 million and 375,000 respectively)while the year before, anaheim had a celebration crowd of 15,000:eek:. Hockey was not meant for warmer states.

I only missed game 6. That last 24 minutes was CRAZY, looked like the Pens were just trying not to lose. The last 4 minutes was about the best/most intense game for me that didn't involve the Avs ("My team"). I still say the 96 Game 4 was the best clinch game ever. 60/66 shots each, 1-0 score in three OT's...
