...To make a long story short.
Got a Rega Planar 2 TT w/glass platter for a gift used. It came in original box...disassembled....including spindle. Order new belts from UK. Still ran slow. After lots of head scratching ...realized I was missing the bearing ball.
Researched replacement balls. Steel is cheap but only sold in large quantity. Found out the balls are 3/16" or .1875. Read about upgrades....ceramic was the popular choice. Most places were around $18.00.
SO.....here is what I ordered.
....check out this site .1875 or 3/16" ceramic bearing (grade 3) ...delivered for $7.00

...if all works out well....i will have some belts to sell. Ordered 2 round and 2 thinner (non round). Some say the non round is more accurate.

....Inserted the new ceramic bearing. Got it up and running. Sounds great - even on my old uncleaned and scratched records. There seems to be a lower noise floor. The pops and crackle aren't as evident. It is probably not the ceramic bearing upgrade. Just sounds GOOD. Beats out my Dual 1219 w/Shure V15 III, ar-xb w/shure 97me, and Elac H-50........mostly 78's.
...I have 4 TT's and hardly ever play lp's since transferring music to PC HD....just so easy to find something.
...Upgraded all the belts...did u know it has belt to separate motor from frame? -
