Just bought one of the new Polk MM12s inside their loaded enclosure, and was wondering what kind of anybody would reccomend to power it. The guy at Circuit City told me to go MTX but didn't want to blow 300 bucks on a crummy amp. This is the only sub I have for now, but may add another MM12 later on. Lemme know what ya'll are thinking!

what amp was he suggesting for 300?? nothing that i can think would work with your sub(s) in the mtx line is 300 bucks... the 8302 is on sale for 209 (350 normaly) and the 81000d is on sale for 400 - 450 (699 normally)... no other mtx amp will adequately suit a momo 12. damn circuit city guys... someday they'll hopefully go the way of the do-do-bird.

if you're going to stick with one Momo 12, then I suggest a class AB bridgeable 500 watt amp.

    -Fosgate Power 551S
    -MTX 8302 / 502
    -Kicker KX 500.2

If you're pretty sure you'll be adding another Momo 12 later, then I suggest a 1000 - 1200 watt class D 2 ohm stable mono amp.

    (price range 300 - 700 bucks depending whether u buy ebay/online/retail)
    - MTX 81000d / 15001
    - Fosgate 1000bd
    - JBL BP1200.1

or a good quality 2 ohm stable bridgeable AB amp that'll do 1000 - 1200 watts, but that's going to cost you more than you apparently are in the game for -- around 1,000+ bucks. something from USamps, Zapco, Alphasonik.

for affordable power, you really cant beat MTX and Fosgate these days. They put out good power, decent clarity, and are pretty durable... without costing a small fortune.

If you've got the money though, USamps would be pretty pimp. If i had my way, and had some more $$, i'd have USamps in my truck now.

Thanks for the help man...just wanted to let you know that I decided to go with the MTX 81000d. Found some good deals on eEbay for them, so I'll end up with a $700 amp for about $330. Thanks again for the help
