Just curious if anyone have repaired warped vinyl without damaging the LP. I found a sealed copy of Crystal Gayle's first lP and when I try and play it the stylus bounces in th groove of the first couple tracks.. Any ideas?

Yep there are warped vinyl repair devices out there. Look here for a thread on just such a machine. Did it begin with an "F"? Furman? I can't remember where I saw it. Clearaudio makes one too if I remember. I have used a steam cleaner and carefully heated the vinyl until it softened a little. Then while still warm I use a stiff cleaning brush like the one from VPI with a little cleaning fluid as a lubricant. As the vinyl cools I'm pressing as if to clean and I have been able to take warpage out of some LP's. But you have to be careful.

Slightly increase the stylus pressure when playing it or get a tonearm that will track better.

on the LP I want to fix, there is a 1/4 inch drop over a 1/4 inch. I have adjusted the downforce but that is not enought to compensate for what is essentially a speedbump in the vinyl. I am going to try a blowdrier or something on a very flat surface and gently massage that edge...

    Get a reflex clamp. ;)

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Try this one although you are going to need some shims which I have.

You should be using a record clamp anyway on all your records being played. It transforms the music like no other tweak for vinyl.

Place between 2 large panes of double strength glass and expose to strong direct sunlight. Don't leave un-attended!! As soon as the warp is "relaxed", put the "sandwich" inside on a flat surface to cool and set.;)

Some members went together and bought a Furman. Word is it works great. They are sharing it between each of them that participated.

It's Furutech, and yes, it does work amazingly well. Here's a sample I captured.

I wish I could afford the box for this thing... can I send a few albums out to someone that has one of these things. I will pay for shipping both ways and a bit for your time as well.

IPOD? You need to be slapped for that one.

... ummm, I don't know where to go with that one. I have not played a cd on my rig since the TT got here. I just got a new cd/dvd/blu-ray and it has only been played long enough to see that it works.

Don't slap Leroy for that... we can hang him in effigy and burn him at the next C/P get-together instead:p

But why? I can't hear how compressed my MP3s are through my iPod buds anyway. :p
