Anyone use AES/EBU digital cable for CDT to DAC and if so what brand.I just won a Theta data basic on ebay and it has coax AND AES/EBU.Ive read a lot about these since I have a DAC and it seems that the later is the better of the two. Im considering a Ps audio xstream digital xlr 1.5 meter, and a Dh labs 3ft custom D-110 aes ebu digital cable from moon audio. Both are around the same price.
I forgot I had a bid on the theta and was not expecting to get it at such a good deal but I did and Im looking forward to compare it to my old adcom575:eek:..........If it isnt a big improvement I may just flip it on audiogon..I got it for just under 300 shipped and they usually go for 400 on the audiogon:D
Anyway does anyone have a prefered 110 ohm cable????Link to the dh labs below made by drew at moon audio and a review.

The orchid is a little to expensive for me just now. I wish I could afford a 1 meter one. They run close to 300 used though..:(SDA-2BTL with custom IC

I got a well built AES / EBU cable from eBay from seller "Pro Audio Cables" (don't see they on eBay now; not sure if they are now NY Audio Cables; just search for AES EBU)
Haven't compared them to premium audiophile brands, but price is right, they're flexible, and have solid connectors.
Might be a good baseline to start with. -
I'm using a WireWorld Gold Starlight 5 AES between my T and Dac. Don't think I'll ever touch it again!

FBM, you commented that the AES/EBU connection "seems...better", but this isn't necessarily the case. The balanced 110ohm connection is often used in professional applications involving long runs in areas having high electrical interference, where its greater immunity to interference is a significant advantage. In a typical home audio connection just a few feet long , however, the usual shielded coaxial cable is the appropriate choice at lower cost.
If you nevertheless want to use the AES/EBU, they're available at much more reasonable prices than those mentioned. For example, this Hosa cable uses Belden 1800F which does the job, and there's nothing better available. -
You didn't mention the potential advantage of the AES/EBU connection also including transformers, meaning isolation on that line.
And while the Belden 1800F is fine, (I've used much of it myself) have you actually listened to different cables and determined the Hosa to be as good as it gets, or are you just saying that because it's digital? And digital is always perfect if it works at all? Just askin'...
CoolJazzA so called science type proudly says... "I do realize that I would fool myself all the time, about listening conclusions and many other observations, if I did listen before buying. That’s why I don’t, I bought all of my current gear based on technical parameters alone, such as specs and measurements."
More amazing Internet Science Pink Panther wisdom..."My DAC has since been upgraded from Mark Levinson to Topping." -
Well,I am no expert on balanced cables since I have never had any gear that uses them but from what I have read in reviews there has been some comments that you get less jitter with them when used from CDT to DAC.Whether or not this true I have no idea.Once I get one I will of course do some A/B listening.
I do intend to upgrade to a better digital front end someday and am looking at either a shanling T1000 or one of the cary models. The Cary CDP1 looks very good...The thing can actually upsample to 768 khz.Not that means anything to everyone..
Anyway thanks for the link to hosaSDA-2BTL with custom IC
