So I was perusing Craigslist the other day, know what I'm sayin? See I was lookin for a NAD tuner to round out a component set I'm collecting for a future eff around rig...

So I come across this ad for pre owned ****, see. Some vintage album shop is having a thing, ya know? I figger, eh, WTF, I gots nuthin better goin on... Tell the skirt to get in the friggin car...(:D)

Make a long story short, I gets to da joint, see. And I starts lookin around, all kinds of **** dis guys got. Alot of crap, but Some decent stuff, ya know. Start talking to this whistledick who's in there, and figure out real quick this geek and me ain't from the same old neighborhood. 'Specially when he starts off about how power cords are a joke, miles and miles of **** power, so many feet of cord, yada-yada-yada. I'm think this whackoff is begging to sleep wit da fishes...

And I peeps dis here RTR. Damn thing looks pretty good, fugheddaboudit. All done over, thing looks damn near new, I'm tellin ya.

So's I ask the guy how it sounds. He tells me it's one o' dem Akai GX-270D's. see. 4 track, 7 1/2 & 3 3/4 IPS, 7 inch RTR. Then he goes into this song and dance about the jagoff who worked it over...I'm thinkin, hmm, worked over, huh? Little does he know...Look, I just wanna hear the f#ckin thing, pal, save the fairy tale, ya know???

So he hooks it up, and he's got a pile of **** to play on it. I picks out a couple and he sets it up.

All kidding aside, it sounds pretty damn good. Now I have heard RTR, and i always liked it. Damn fine medium, minimum hassle for great sounding reproduction. Ken Swauger's into it, heard some really nice recordings he has, and I remember him talking about a source for it.

To end the tale, I picked it up, and a pile of various music to go with it. Just what I need, another f#ckin toy... I'm really startin to get some bad feelins for you ****...

lol now that's a sick **** gangsta tale, yo!:D Congrats on your new toy. You mentioned that he had a pile of crap to play on it, did you purchase the media lot as well? At least you'll have a lot of things to listen to on the new R2R.

Of course. Probably about 20-25 of them. I need a source for now for tapes, both blank and recorded. I think it would be smart to use this to record my older vinyl, to save wear...

Oh, god. Deju vu. That's what everyone was doing back in the 70's.
