Bing Versus Google

As you may know Microsoft’s new search engine, Bing, had a great start. According to some news, it started to overtake Yahoo. Bing also grabbed market share from Google.

Is it possible? I don’t think so. People’s habit is hard to change and most of us is using Google as the default homepage. I think more creative ideas and some vision is needed to overtake Google.

I've tried it for a few days, I still prefer Google.

Someone is going to have to do something pretty damn spectacular to get me to switch from Google

I have been using bing and like it. I have been getting more relevant search results especially with the little page preview window. (admittedly, not as good as I hoped but a definate improvement)

I know it will be hard to get some people to switch. But just to keep in in perspective - search engines that I can recall using heavily at one time or another - google, yahoo, altavista, hotbot, lycos, webcrawer, askjeeves, and now bing. In 3 - 5 years, there will be a new one. One thing I would NOT do, is get attached to a search engine. 8 Years ago, I would never have imagined people switching from Yahoo. It was as dominat a portal as google is today.

Definitely looks like MS's bot, lol.

To stay on topic, MS looks to put Bing as the homepage for IE browser, just like Mozilla/Firefox and Chrome do for Google search.

It's a bot for sure... but I have never heard of bing, so the bot is doing it's job. It's a catchy phrase... "Just Bing It" Might take the place of "Just Google It." :)

I was a bit disturbed to see Bing give me locations to the local locations in a national chain search. I'm not sure I like the idea of a search engine arbitrarily learning my location.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.
