Ok...I just purchased a pair of Fx's and wanted to know where is the best place to hang-Side or rear? Any other suggestions would be great.
Thanks

You could try listening them in both positions. On the sides in dipole mode they get a wrap around effect you might enjoy better.

Are you making your system 5.1 or 7.1 system? If you don't have rear surround yet, please these on the rear of your system to have full 5.1 (front left, front right, center, rear left, rear right, subwoofer) system.

If you already have rear surround speakers (5.1) already, place them on the side or hang them on a wall about head / ear level from the wall. It'll give you a 7.1 surround system.

If you go 7.1 do you put the dipoles on the sides and monitors in the rear or vice versa?

You can use LSiF/x for dipoles or bipoles radiation and can either placed on the rear or the sides. You can use two pairs of LSiF/X (one for rear and one pair for sides) and there is a switch on each speaker to change as dipole or bi-pole so play with the setting to see what sounds better in your room (based on where you placed them).

If you have a pair of monitor or some other normal speakers, I believe it'll yield better result if you use them as rear surround and use LSiF/X as side surrounds.
As always, play with position / placement in your room for all speakers for optimal sound quality. Of coz, some don't have a choice when it comes to placement and speaker settings (auto or manual) should be adjusted for better results.

Its going to be 5.1 and stay that way, theres not many Blueray movies that are 7.1 yet.
Please explain the Bi and Di for me....

If you have the LSiF/X manual, it can explain better than I can. If you don't have one with your speakers, you can find it from the link below.

It'll be helpful to read it thoroughly how to properly setup the surround speakers and how to position, etc.

    http://www.polkaudio.com/downloads/manuals/home/LSiC_FXManual.pdf

Text Below is taken directly from the manual!

Direct surround effects—bi-pole mode [figure 3a & 3b]: If you plan on placing
the speakers more than one foot (30cm) behind the primary listening position we
recommend using the “bipole” switch setting [figure 2] and placement.

Diffuse surround effects—di-pole mode [figure 4]: For a more diffuse effect,
place the speakers on the side walls in line with your listening position and at
least 2 feet away from the rear wall. Select the “dipole” switch setting[figure 2].

In either case place surround speakers at least 2 feet (60cm) above seated ear height.

80 is usually the standard recommendation for surrounds, although you can easily vary it to see if you notice anything better with a lower or higher setting. Occasionally over the years I've gone to 60 on front speakers, but have just stuck with 80 for the center and surrounds.

I've tried different xo settings with the LSIFX's but I like the speaker set to small with the xo at 60hz the best....I have the speakers on stands about 4ft to the side and 1.5ft to the rear of my listening position with the switch set to Bipole.

I did have them wall mounted behind me about 6ft off the floor but the WAF was low and actually they sound MUCH better at ear level.

Ok....These things sound amazing! At first I had them 2 feet above my ear level(5 feet from the ground and 2 feet from the back wall) like the manual suggested, but it sounds better when you drop them drop to ear level.

I found the LSIFX's at about ear level sound the best also, I'm not sure why they recommend the speakers be placed 2ft above ear level.....???

I'm glad you like them, they are excellent sounding speakers.

    I am 100 per cent:LSi/fx
I got 2 feet above my ear level (5 feet from the ground and 2 feet from the back wall) as the manual says.
I like the speaker "fx" set to small with the crossover at 60Hz.

Ear level is diff better! Im wondering why Polk recommends two feet from the wall? On my set up, two feet from the wall is past my ears and all I get to hear is the twitter; while the mid is sending out to the TV
