Sitting off axis

I have a set of SR6500 in the doors of my Xterra.
The factory speaker locations have to be the worst I have ever seen. The grill for the factory location very literally touch my ankle they are so low and inward. I have already used the 6x9 adapters that come with the 6500s and angles them within the doors to be facing upward by about 15 degree which helped a little. However I am estimating that I am still at 65 degrees from axis.

The drivers door speaker is muffled alot compared to the passengers. This is the opposite effect to the passenger.
Its to the point of annoying.
Also I have a JL 300/4 bridged to the components and they are loud as hell if you hold your head very low (console level) but by the time that energy rates upward its not enough for me.

I think I am getting a bit of muddiness from not having dynamat in the doors but the doors are rather well built so I don't think that will help much.

It just sounds like all the real detail is missing in the mids.
As the factory tweeter location is the dash, I am using the speakers coaxally in the door.

Any thoughts to fix this?

Short of major customization of coarse.
