ok, so once again, i need your help to figure out if i am going nuts, or if i am actually seeing things right.

Currently I am runny a harman/kardon citation 16 amp, phase linear 4000 pre, cambridge audio azur 640c v2. and a dual 1219 turntable (that sometimes doesn't work, but when it does it sounds amazing.) and some polk monitor 50s.

ok, so here is my question. I have noticed that the speakers move differently when i am playing the turntable as opposed to when i am playing the cd player. obviously the cd player plays louder. but thats not too surprising. but when i play the tt it seems like speakers are moving back and forth a lot more (distance wise) and i guess it seems like it is a looser movement as well. and with the observed movement all of this is compaired to the cone movement of the cd player.

so, has anyone else notice this, or is there something wrong with my gear, or am i just plain nuts...which with my schedule would not surprise me.

thanks again.

There are a couple of things that can cause a turntable to produce very low frequencies, such as it not being completely level or playing a warped record. It's called subsonic rumble.

See if it's worse with certain records and you can start to narrow down the cause. Not familiar with your pre amp, but some have a subsonic filter you can engage to lessen the effects.

I need to engage the sub sonic filter on my TT also.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

I too have that problem.I just engage the low filter on my pre and it lessens the effect bt 75% or so.A nice feature to have.Adcom must have considered that when they produced thier preamps.

I will have to try and figure that out. I don't have a subsonic filter on the pre, but there are so many other features on that thing, and since it was made in 75 the record hey day there are a couple of possibilities that i could do.

    thanks!

    I believe I have a stand-alone Nakamichi sub-sonic filter around here somewhere.

Would that work with my Nak C-5?

I mean the subsonic filter from George.

It was designed to be used when recording vinyl onto Nakamichi tape decks (any tape deck really) if your preamp, integrated amp, or receiver did not have a rumble or subsonic filter.

The benefits of the subsonic filter will be available at the loudspeakers whether you are using it to record or not.
