Surround right speaker volume increases randomly

Hello,

Sorry for making so many help threads, but i've searched around and can't find anything.

I have a Harman Kardon AVR 140 and every once in a while when I am watching a dvd or show the surround right speaker increases in volume substantially. It is almost like the surround right speaker becomes another front speaker for a few minutes. Its very annoying as my surround are very close to my seating position. Furthermore, this is not occuring in the surround left speaker.

Anything you could provide that would point me in the right direction would be awesome.

Thanks

    1. Swap left and right cable directly on the receiver to see if the problem switches side... If so, switch cable from from the speaker side so you can determine if prob is with cable or receiver. If with receiver, seems like an intermittent part connection. Get the receiver looked at for potential cold soldering. As far as cable, it could be bad connection and there is chances you solved the problem while swappimg. Otherwise check for any damage on the cable.

    2. The swapping method could also lead you to a bad speaker. Get it checked for any internal intermittent connection(s) more likely cold joints on the cross over board (wires, caps, coils, resistors etc..)

    Good luck!
