In a world where scientists kill an elephant with massive amounts of LSD, I feel like a stoner dog isn't that big a deal....

It's funny and sad at the same time. I'm just glad the dog is okay. BTW, who's leaving their drugs in the forest?

One can die from eating too much pot?
I was always under the impression that it was impossible.
Then again, dogs can't eat chocolate either...

You can die from drinking too much water, you don't think you can die from eating too much pot?

Hm... But it might be damn near impossible to get your yand to your mouth before you reach a toxic level.

I mean, you are looking at it like an Existential view... Anything can I guess, by your example, kill you. You could die of exhaustion from too much sex, or die from an OD of pure oxygen... You could die from lack of sleep...

But we are talking about a three minute plunge into some weed... The dog was gone for 3 minutes, according to the owner. I know a dog can wolf down some junk in 3 minutes... But apart from straight poison, I can't imagine that they could eat enough to kill them...

If I were a user of pot (which I am not nor will likely be again), I would like to safely experiment with this... As the dog, of course.

Well, it seems like you have to take a LOT of it to kill you :

    http://druglibrary.org/****/library/mj_overdose.htm

About 1/3 of your body weight (which seems ridiculous), so, for an 11-year old lab that would be about 35 pounds or so (assuming that age / type of dog is around 100 pounds).

But again, it's a drug. Everyone responds differently to drugs. 11 years old is pretty old for a lab, in teh story above, and having his heart race like that easily could have killed him even if he didn't die from actual toxicity.

35 pounds of processed pot would be a record bust somewhere and on top of that, it would take up a lot of space. Most likely the dog didn't eat that much.

And yeah, the shock could very well have been an issue; didn't even think of that. Hopefully the vet weighed in on that and not just the fact that this was an illegal substance ingested before charging $1500 to help the dog... not be high. I love my dog, and the only way $1500 would be forked over for her would be in a fixable and life saving situation... If the vet was just, "She's high.", I'd be all, "Alright.... Guess I need to pick up some more dog biscuits."

.......upon returning home from the vet, the dog ate half a box of Twinkies, a bag of Oreos, and whatever remaining Milk Bones he could get his paws on. The dog's owner reported that after the binge, the dog took a nap. He also added that the dog just doesn't seem all that motivated anymore.:D

What you have to bear in mind, is that when eating marijuana, you're getting much more out of it than you would smoking it.

I forget the exact numbers, but when you're smoking it, you're only actually getting about 15% of the THC out of it. When you eat it, you're getting something like 65% of the THC in it.

That being said, it is essentially impossible to OD on pot. Like bobman posted, you'd have to smoke roughly 1/3 of your body weight to OD. For a 200 pound person, that would come out to smoking roughly 65 pounds.
How much would it take to OD from eating it? Figuring a 200 pound person, you'd still have to eat roughly 25-30 pounds. So yeah...it's basically impossible to OD on it.

For a dog on the other hand....

They spent 1500 dollars to sober the dog up? Just let it run it's course...it'll be alright in about 4-6 hours. Give it some munchies, and a big bowl of water, and let it take a nap.

Can you point out where you read these things? I just re-read all these posts... I'm not seeing any rationalizations for validating the smoking/ingesting of drugs nor feeding them to a dog.

In high school I got caught smoking in the bathroom and locked myself in the stall. I gobbled down a little more than a quarter so I would not get caught with the herb. It did not kill me for sure. It did make for an interesting time in front of the principal though.
