Arrogance, bad service, hedging on warranties, sending you to the manufacturer instead of handling locally (if feasible). These are all qualities that are steeped in audio tradition.

I get the best service online or out of state with sellers like Audio Advisor.

Most of these guys are out here are horrible marketers for starters.
If your every in New York and you REALLY want to be condescended to, stop by Stereo Exchange on Broadway.
    lousy salesmen.
This is pep speech I would give them.

    Just to chime in here...

    On electronics (amps, keyboards)

It varies brand to brand, but we generally make 20-45% off of MAP -- List/Retail is a pretty insignificant number in my store in the grand scheme.

But most brands float around the 30-40% range...

So you might make 80-100 bucks on a 300 dollar item...

Which honestly is not that much

imagine if the profit margins were so high in the auto industry. When I sold electronics years ago, I made more in commissions on a big screen tv than the markups on a Chevy Tahoe

I just get sick of the attitude. A lot of the higher end gear (AudioAdvisor) and such, does not cost much more than a killer computer rig or kitchen appliance these days. So why do we have to put up with snooty dealers, who have no demo or return policy?
I am sick of it. These are the dealers that pushed buyers to internet sellers.
