I bought this complete fisher system with Vivid Thunder speakers, studio standard CA-38u Amplifier, sounds great on one channel but the left channel does not work at all. Can I get some help with that? All wires are connected correctly/securely. All fuses inside are good as well. Any help would be appriciated.

Thank you!

First I would try swapping the left and right speakers and see if the issue follows the speaker or the channel on the amp.

If the left now works and the right does not then you know you have a bad speaker.

If the same channel is not working I would swap out the speaker cable with a known working cable. If that does not work then swap out the RCA from the pre to the amp with a known working cable. If swaping the cables does not work you know it is in the amp or preamp.

I would then swap the left and right from the preamp to the amp. If it works then the pre is bad if it does not then the amp is bad.

All speakers and wires are good. Both channels work fine on my sansui amp. RCA's are good as well. The fisher is a much better unit then the sansui in my opinion sound wise. What could I do in the preamp to get this unit up and running? Or is it better to have it repaired. The Function/Power level meter does not blink either when the balance is set all the way to the left.

One more thing I;d like to add, left does not work on the tuner, tape, phono, or CD/AUX. Also the amp has speakers A and speakers B. (total of 4 speakers it can have hooked up, but 2 channels working at a time) Still only right channel working when hooked into speakers B as well.

Spray some Caig Deoxit on the balance pot and turn back and forth a few times. In fact might as well spray all the contacts while you're in there. YNK.

If all these basic steps fail, then one channel is out... Send it out for repair, if you think it's worth the repair cost.
