Lsi7 as rear surround -- left or right?

This question is probably trivial, but I can't ease my curiosity... so here it is:

The tweeter and woofer alignment on the Lsi's is off-axial. There is left or right assignment on the speakers which I believe it's for the main's.

Now if I put them as rear surround, do I use left for SBL (surround back left) or SBR?

In fact I can't really tell the difference when I switch left and right, but maybe there is a theoretical benefit for certain placement?

I also noticed that most off-axis main channel speakers have the tweeters pointing in the screen. For surrond, they point forward. How about the rear's?

Since the rear surrounds are usually a mono signal, it shouldn't matter, but I would put them up with the tweeters on the outside for a more diffused sound field.

You want them with the tweeters facing in. I have the LSI 7's as surround. This is from the manual...

My manual (and the one posted on Polks site) says this on the first page under placement recommendations....

If you are using your LSi Series Bookshelf Loudspeakers
as rear channels in a home theater system, they should be placed on the rear or
side walls, slightly above (and, on the side walls behind) the listening position
[figures 4a & 4b]. In this case, the speaker marked “left” should be placed on
the left side of the room as you face the back of the room [figure 2] (it becomes the right rear surround when you face the front of the room).

I stick with my original recommendation.....

Thank you both for the information!

After reading the manual and other online materials, my impression is that tweeters face in for stereo imaging while tweeters on the outside provide more diffuse sound field.

That being said, I still found the difference unnoticeable. I'll see if I can find a better way to experiment a little bit and report back~
