Any Building Suppliers around here?

I'm buying a place and am making the builder tweek their design a little bit because I was annoyed at what they had as stock so I've been on the hunt for this irritatingly difficult tub to find.....I'm looking for a 60x42 soaker tub......I only want the far end (from the faucet) to lean and i want the side where the faucet is mounted (on the wall, not on the side or a corner) to be vertical. I want a rectangular tub well (not oval, not dogboneshape etc)

I'm finding all sorts of random jacuzzi/whirlpool stuff but that's not what I'm havin put in this place.

Basically the place (new build townhome) has a separate bathtub/shower, but the shower is too small and the tub they had was even worse, so either I'm touchin glass when I wash the feet (not cool) or I'm taking a bath laying on my side......The builder likes my idea for a little more room in the bathroom so they're eating the costs at bumping out the wall (about $2k) but I'm paying for the additional shower head to be installed.

I'll post pics later, but I've been looking on so many sites it's amazing how difficult this shape is to find. I'm making them bump out the wall about 6" and then am going with the 60x42 tub that will also have a shower head as well as the stand up shower (i don't care if that's retarded.....lol). I'm far more likely to shower in the tub (MUCH more roomy) than I am to shower in the slightly larger shower. I tried to make the arguement to ditch the separate shower alltogether and put in a 72" tub/shower but they aren't having it.

Help???

Just a suggestion, but go to any big box store (HD, Lowe's, or ?) to see what brands they carry. Then go the the brands website to see if something they build is something you what. If so recheck with the big box store to see if they could order it for you.

I have......60x42 is kind of a weird size if it's not a jacuzzi..........

Ultimately what I want is a 72x42 crazy sized tub that i could sprawl out in which would nix the stand up shower completely.....or the other idea they had was to turn the entire end of the bathroom in a 6x8' stand up shower enclosure.......THAT would be.......um......fun? lol

    Brett,

You decided on new construction, where did you decide to move too?

On the tub, I'll ask my buddy, a construction foreman if he knows of anything. Unfortunately, I won't be home for a couple weeks or I would ask his plumbers what they know about. The one plumber is does a lot of big custom homes here and sometimes the bath rooms are huge. If you can wait two weeks, I'd be happy to talk to him.

You didn't mention what kind of mount you wanted..... 3 wall, under mount, corner mount, free standing, drop in ? Not sure if this is what your looking for, but Kohler has a 72 x 36 tub. When I was looking at custom bathroom stuff, it seemed that Kohler was the only folks that offered what i was looking for.

You might also try American Standard. I did some extensive research on both sites.

Since this is going to be an odd size, none of the big box stores are going to carry it. Shouldn't be an issue, most plumbers deal in those brands and can easily get whatever you decide.

Perhaps a Kohler VibrAcoustic Tub is in your future

Yea, I'm a professional builder Brett...what do you need jerkoff? The main problem is that your oversized and your roomates suck.

I'm buying here in Salt Lake City.

The 72" tubs are out because they are adamant about keeping both a shower and a tub in this bathroom (even though I told them one large area (tub or shower) would be better than two mid-sized areas......

I sent them a few options, but I dont' think I'll have a lot of time to give them any other options since they want to get going on this ASAP. Ask your friend when you get back in a few weeks, but i don't know if I'm still gonna be able to pass along additional suggestions.

Doro, I'm sorry I've neglected you lately and I recognize that's to blame for your hostility. Date night this weekend baby?

You are? Good, come replace my basement door. It's a piece of junk and I need a good solid replacement door, frame and all.

    I'll be waiting.
