SVS pb-12 Ultra

Hey guys,

So I just picked up an SVS pb-12 Ultra the other day, about a year and a half old. When I picked it up, I asked the guy to put on a demo for me, and the thing blew me away. i couldn't hear, think, or keep that dumb*** grin off my face. I took it home, plugged it in to my Yamaha rx-v659, and .... nothing. I fidgeted, upped the gain a little bit, and I hear the subwoofer, yes. What I did not hear, was the inhuman pounding that I heard in the demo. Any ideas? Is my receiver not powerful enough? It has 100w x 7channels, not quite sure why with my 5.1 setup it would not be pounding.

I need more bass in my life,

Mark

How do you have it hooked up, first of all?

Your amp should have nothing to do with that sub, it's got its own amp built-in (900W, IIRC?)

Edited, the Plus2 has 900w, not sure about the Ultra, sorry.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Can't edit my old post, but I would also check to see how your other speakers are set up. To start with set them all as small (regardless of how large they may be) with an 80hz crossover. (once we start getting bass - then start adjusting from there)

wow guys thanks for all the advice! I will check my speakers, but in terms f how it is connected, I just have a bettercables subwoofer cord put into the jack on my receiver. The internal amp really encourages me, though, just so I know I have everything I need to change. I did the autocheck on my receiver, with the mic, and it detected the sub and even played tones. I heard the woofer during a movie, but it wasnt as large sounding as when i demoed it. I will check everything and get back though! Thanks for all your advice!
