Danica Patrick moving to Nascar....

"Patrick, who finished third in last month's Indianapolis 500, is in a contract year with Andretti-Green Racing and has shown interest in moving to NASCAR, where it's estimated she could triple her current net worth between salary, souvenirs and endorsements."
Boy, I don't know about this idea...... Nascar is a whole different ball game compared to what she's racing now.

If she can transition to the different driving style, everything else will take care of itself.
Besides, how classic would it be to see her get into it with Tony or Shrub?

That's true, but those good ol'boys in Nascar need some shaking up. It would be good to see her give it a go.DKG999

Yeah, it must be tough to learn how to drive in a circle over and over and over and over...
Isn't that what they do in Indy as well? She's probably not good enough for F1 but enough sponsor money would still get her a seat. That would make her the modern day Michelle Mouton. -
and over and over and over and over,i think 500 times

From 'Blue-Bloods' to 'Renecks'. Can't wait:p
I don't even follow racing, but I'd LOVE to see how they welcome her to the Bubba club:eek:I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -
Having never driven either an Indy car or a NASCAR car, I am only guessing here, but I suspect physical strength is more of a benefit in NASCAR than Indy car. Watching, via the in car camera behind the driver, her, and others, drive an Indy car, it seems more like a video game. That is, only a slight turn of the steering wheel is needed in a race, and it produces large effects, so it seems strength is not really needed. Rather, reflexs and stamina appear to play a bigger role in driving Indy cars.
On the other hand, the in car cameras for NASCAR show the drivers wrestling with the steering wheel to get around the track, and it appears strength, reflexs, and stamina are needed for NASCAR racing.
Not to say that she is not in good shape, and maybe NASCAR cars have great power steering, but just from watching TV, that is the impression I have. Of course, I could be wrong, and I am sure someone who knows what they are talking about will provide the correct details.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Well, the biggest issue she's going to have is how easy it is loose traction....Having never driven either an Indy car or a NASCAR car, I am only guessing here, but I suspect physical strength is more of a benefit in NASCAR than Indy car. She'll have no problem with stamina... she's driven far more than 500 circles around in my head.

The transition from open wheel to NASCAR isn't an easy one. It's quite a contrast going from the comparitively light, nibble handling ,high down force Indy car to the heavy ill handling bus of a stock car. There are several good ex open wheelers in NASCAR but only TS seems to be competitive.and over and over and over and over,i think 500 timesTesting

Precisely. Getting in and out of the exact same corner is different for the different types of cars. Stock cars need a little prodding to get them to start turning, then you kinda ride through the middle to carry as much momentum as you can, then ease on the gas on exit. Open wheel cars you drive into the corner, turn, and hit the gas on exit. Totally different timing and feel.
Indy visits a sizable minority of the same tracks as NASCAR, so don't give me this **** about driving around in circles and turning left.

She wouldn't be able to see over the steering wheel in a taxicab.Political Correctness'.........defined

There is a lot of examples of open wheel racers that have failed or at least haven't proven anything in Nascar. Robby Gordon, John Andretti, Dario Franchitti, Sam Hornish JR, Juan Pablo Montoya has only won the mexico road course. About the only open wheel success story is Tony Stewart. Obviously there is more to it then just goin in circles. My Home Theater (WIP):

I think she should drive a F1 car.
I'm sure one member here is going to love that idea which is not a good one and will never happen. -

It won't happen, you're right. She's not good enough to get a paid job, she would most likely have to pay for a seat. On top of that, poor F1 performance would most likely destroy her marketability. -
Another reason for the alleged move, other than the $$$, is that she's been wanting to clean her image up a bit, but IRL won't let her or is HIGHLY discouraging her from doing so. IRL wants her to be the bad girl."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

Yeah, thats why all those "evolved" road course drivers from all over the world are miserable failures in NASCAR because its just so easy. Going 200 mph in a 3500 pound car with 43 other cars inches from you trying to outrun you for 4 straight hours is pretty brutal.
And as for the "good old boys" thing - the only good old boy left in NASCAR is Dale Jr. Everybody else is from up north or California. And with owners like Joe Gibbs, Jack Roush and the new owner of Saturn, Roger Penske and the all the open wheel guys from Australia, Columbia, Scottland and wherever else, the days of NASCAR being a redneck sport are over.
I am a big fan of Danica but she would be a complete failure in NASCAR. Indy cars weigh in at around 1700 pounds and stick to the road like velcro and handle with surgical precision like a $10 million go-cart. A NASCAR is designed after a passenger car and is much clumsier and overall harder to drive. Not only is it much harder than open wheel driving but her tiny little **** just wont have the grunt to muscle the 3500 pound, boxy NASCAR around corners for 500 miles with 43 other cars banging into her and moving her out of the way which is something you dont have in Indy.
As a diehard NASCAR fan I would love to see her come over because she would bring a ton of press coverage and buzz with her but after a couple of seasons of never finishing higher than 25th, that buzz would wear off and shed have to go crawling back to open wheel with her pretty little **** in a sling just like Dario Franchitti.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

How about "Splitting the V" The Danica Patrick Story?
I hope she drives well where ever she goes, I am a fan.
