I just won a $250 gift certificate from work to Best Buy and I thought I would get some outdoor speakers for the hot tub.

What outdoor speakers would you get with it?

I was going to listen to Def Techs at the Magnolia Best Buy in Milwaukee. I wonder how they compare to the Polk Atrium 55's...

I have never heard the Atrium 55's. But I have head DT AW6500 and I liked them very much. Got to like an all weather speaker with a Frequency Response :40 Hz – 30 kHz and will hendle up to 200 wpc.

The Sat30 and Sub10 speakers just became available for pre-order on Polk's website and Amazon. I've been wondering about those, and was thinking they might work nicely in my backyard.

I've heard the Atrium 55....actually bought them as a gift for a friend. They are an upgrade to the speakers that they replaced but I still like my Niles OS20's better. I bought the Atriums reconditioned and for the $$ it was a good buy and are suited for background music.....which is what I use outdoor speakers for anyhow.
Yep, my name really is Bob.
Parasound HCA1500A(indoor sound) and HCA1000(outdoor sound), Dynaco PAS4, Denon DP1200 w/Shure V15 Type V and Jico SAS stylus, Marantz UD7007, Polk L600, Rythmik L12 sub.

I have the Atrium 65's, They are excellent speakers, very good bass (for an outdoor speaker) with crisp clean highs with a classic Polk sound. You can drive them to very high volume levels.

Before placing them outside, I hooked them up to my main system and ran them for a few days (to break them in). they sounded very good, my wife didn't realize the LSI-15 wasn't hooked up.

I have mine wired for seperate R\L stereo config., you can also wire as a 1 speaker stereo setup.

These are pretty large speakers so if you have a tight space measure first.

I have listened to the 55's also , I think the 65's are much better sounding especially in the low end.

    Hope this helps

I ended up getting the Def Tech AW5500 in Black. For the size and price, I didn't hear anything better. I listened to quite a few different speakers before deciding:

    - Polk Atrium 45 and 55
    - Klipsch KHO-7
    - Yamaha's
    - Insignia's
    - Speakercraft rock
    - Moderno's
    - Def Tech's - 5500 and 6500

I liked the 6500's the most, but they were a little out of my price range and they were a little bigger.

I'll report once I break them in;)

    Thanks for all the help!!
