So I have a NAD 214 amp, 114 preamp, matching tuner and cd player on craigslist. Just don't need it - I prefer my Yamaha separates.

Anyways, a fellow craigslister offered a good pair of Klipsch Heresy speakers for my setup.

Would you do it?

I'm looking for a decent set of speakers (like i need another set).

I would probably just set these up in my bedroom for stereo. My living room is still all Polk ;)

Thanks!

Get rid of the 555ES first... Sorry, I had to say that. I used to own a 333ES and thought it was a great receiver until I found another one. 333ES clearly had no highs.

Depending on vintage and condition, a "good pair of Heresys" is worth about $400. That may be helpful in your decision(?); I am not familiar with the specific NAD pieces you mention.

They (Heresys) are pretty good high-efficiency speakers "when used properly". They don't produce much in the way of bass, and they are (depending upon one's perspective) either a bit rough/unsophisticated sounding or ruthlessly revealing. When used improperly (e.g., consumer-grade high-powered solid state amplifiers and a poor-performing program source) they can be used to strip paint :-)

EDIT: FWIW I owned and used a pair of Klipsch Cornwalls for about a decade. These much larger speakers are basically "Heresys with bass", and were used primarily with push-pull EL84 amplification (mostly an EICO HF-81) which suits them fairly well. They've been replaced with a vintage pair of Altec 846A 16-ohm Valencias.

I was going to replace it soon. But I am not running only the 555ES. I have a Denon AVR-787 that I am using for my main system surround system.

As for 2 channel I was powering it with the NAD 214 and NAD 114, but switched back to my Yamaha C65 Pre and Yamaha M-45 power amplifier. I also have a MX-1000u sitting in wait with my magnepans right now.

The 555ES is just my bedroom setup and it suffices as it is only for movies.
