I have an older 46'' Sony CRT RPTV in an extra room that my wife watches when I'm watching sports or a movie that she doesn't care to see on the main rig, and the blue gun in it is acting funny, I thought it might be a convergence issue so I popped the back and started adjusting it and got it looking great but as soon as I turned the TV off and let it rest a little and turned it back on the blue was screwed up again so I tinkered with alittle more and got it to look like it was supposed to but as soon as turn it off the problem comes right back, anyone know what might be causing this?

After you were done did you 'save' those new convergence settings by using the Sony's menus? Just a thought. because it sounds like they're not in memory.

My convergence drifts like crazy too. Can't wait to get rid of it.Do you hear that buzzing noise?

Convergence boards, and voltage regulator boards can give a lot of troubles on RPTV sets. May need a pro whom may know just by seeing what its doing to know what board is failing.

But it's also true that some of those boards have gone over a decade with no problems whatsoever in some sets. My Toshiba HDTV is 5 years old, I haven't had much in the way of 'drifting' during most of that time after the initial calibration. My sister's pre-HD Toshiba is 10 years old no convergence problesms yet? But IC boards can get fried and die.

I had my Pioneer Elite PRO-520HD with the exact same problem (blue convergence drifted ), and the was quoted the work to be in the range of $500-$700 to fix it. As much as I love the unit (bought it back in 2002) for $5500, I've decided to let it go and bought a Sony KDS-55A3000. Painful decision, but didn't regret it since technology is what driving the changes. This was in 2007 btw. Sad part was, I had the unit ISF calibrated in 2006, and the convergence board failed in six months later.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

That's pretty much the same story I'm getting here, the local repair shop wants $150 just to pick it up and diagnose the problem before they even turn a screw on it. I'm afraid that if its not something I can fix my self then the old Sony will have seen its last days.Casey
